The locksmith arrived and installed a brand-new set of locks.
Feeling a sense of relief, Quinn Yates called her best friend to help her find a reliable housekeeper.
With everything settled, Quinn dialed Lillian Quincy's assistant.
"Hello!"
"Hi, this is Quinn Yates. We met at the fashion show at the Westbank Arts Centre."
Isabella clearly had no idea who she was and remained silent.
Quinn gently reminded her, "Outside the venue, I gave you my design portfolio to pass on to Ms. Quincy."
"Oh, right, you," Isabella finally recalled. "Sorry, Ms. Quincy has been incredibly busy lately. She hasn't looked at it yet."
Hanging up, Quinn sat on the sofa, lost in thought.
Lillian was overwhelmed with work every day; there was a high chance she would never even see that portfolio.
Besides, countless hopefuls sought her out daily. Waiting around was just a death sentence for her career.
It was better to go find her in person. She firmly believed that if she could just hand the designs to Lillian directly and explain her creative vision, the renowned designer would see her potential.
Making up her mind, she wasted no time, gathered her things, and headed out.
Lillian also had a design firm in Riverton, about a forty-minute drive from Lunas Crest.
Quinn clutched her bag, walking briskly into the building's lobby.
Just as she passed through the glass revolving doors, she spotted Vivienne Ambrose walking toward her with a bright smile.
By her side was her loyal lapdog of an assistant, Maya.
Quinn pretended not to see them, keeping her eyes fixed straight ahead as she marched toward the elevators.
But Vivienne caught sight of her and called out with fake enthusiasm.
"Quinn, what are you doing here? Are you here to see Ms. Quincy too?"
"None of your business."
He was willing to do whatever it took to give her wings, throwing resources, millions of dollars, and top-tier connections her way.
He wouldn't let Quinn fly in her own sky; in fact, he was eager to clip the wings of her dreams.
Did they really think they could use corporate capital to crush her and destroy the passion she had harbored for years? She wasn't going to let them win.
She almost forgot—she needed to speak with her divorce lawyer.
During her marriage to Dante, half the money he had squandered on Vivienne rightfully belonged to her, and she was going to get it back.
"Quinn, I know you really admire Ms. Quincy, but some things require more than just passion and hard work," Vivienne said smoothly.
"Once I'm working under Ms. Quincy, if there are any leftover opportunities, I might be able to toss you a bone."
"Exactly. Face reality, Quinn. It's actually pathetic that your own husband won't even help you," Maya sneered.
"Without Mr. Hayes backing you, how could you ever compete with Vivienne?"
Reaching her absolute limit, Quinn raised her hand to slap the smug look off the assistant's face, but another hand beat her to it.
