Snapping out of her memories, the evening breeze felt entirely too cold.

Quinn forced down the familiar sting behind her eyes.

Staring blankly at Dante, she spoke. "Whatever you want to talk about, spit it out."

Dante gazed at her. The darkness only accentuated her breathtaking beauty, her elegant dress hugging her stunning curves perfectly.

She seemed far more radiant than ever before.

But she had also become undeniably ruthless toward him.

He asked in a low voice, "Did you change the locks at the villa?"

Quinn found it laughable. "Your precious first love is recovering in the hospital right now, and you actually have the time to come ask me about some locks?"

Dante had been deeply frustrated lately, and not wanting to set off another argument, he replied, "I merely dropped her off at the emergency room."

"Dante, whatever you and Vivienne have going on has absolutely nothing to do with me. You don't need to explain yourself."

Before she even finished, Mrs. Hayes's number flashed across Dante's phone. He rejected the call several times, but she relentlessly called back, finally forcing him to answer.

"Dante, are you still tied up at work? Why did you keep hanging up on me?"

"Yeah, I'm busy with something right now."

"When you're done, come back to the estate for dinner. Mabel made your favorite BBQ ribs and soup."

"Mabel?" Dante glanced at Quinn in complete surprise. "Isn't she over at Lunas Crest?"

"Oh," Mrs. Hayes replied, as if just remembering. "I forgot to tell you. Quinn said she no longer needed their services, so all three of them moved back to the main house."

No wonder. No wonder he couldn't get inside earlier, and nobody had answered the door.

Hanging up the phone, Dante locked his somber gaze onto Quinn.

"Why did you fire Mabel and the rest of the staff?"

He took a threatening step forward, his eyes flashing violently. "Are you really just fine on your own, or were they just getting in your way?"

Quinn frowned. "What is that supposed to mean?"

"With the staff gone, you and that bodyguard have plenty of time alone, don't you?" The sheer jealousy radiating off of Dante was practically suffocating.

Hers was sitting snugly in her bedroom drawer, and his was currently in his mother's possession.

On top of that, she even had a fresh, brand-new marriage certificate locked away.

A cynical smirk touched the corners of her lips.

She suddenly found herself genuinely curious about how he would react once the two-month deadline passed and he finally learned the truth.

Dante stared at her. For some inexplicable reason, the way she was looking at him sent a cold chill down his spine.

"I have design sketches to revise. I'm done talking to you. Leave."

Wanting nothing more to do with him, Quinn turned to head inside.

Suddenly, a massive force grabbed her from behind.

Dante lunged forward, wrapping his long arm tightly around her slender waist.

He yanked her brutally back against his chest.
