Changing into dry clothes, Quinn stepped out of the room with Raymond.

Her mother had left behind many cheongsams. Wearing this cream-colored one, Quinn looked exceptionally elegant and ethereal.

Standing alone under the corridor light, Dante immediately looked up as soon as she emerged.

Quinn, refusing to look at him, turned to Raymond and said, "Let's go."

"Quinn, let me explain..."

Snapping back to his senses, Dante took large strides to catch up with them.

Quinn stopped and turned to him, her eyes steeped in a coldness forged from countless disappointments.

"Explain what?"

"Explain how you watched me sink into a twelve-foot pool and completely ignored me with absolute indifference?"

"Explain how, in every moment of crisis, you always abandon me to rush immediately to another woman's side?"

"Or explain how your so-called unforgettable, profound childhood love was nothing but a complete joke I played on myself from beginning to end?"

Each relentless question was razor-sharp, stabbing brutally into Dante's chest.

Dante's face turned deathly pale. His Adam's apple bobbed heavily, and he opened his mouth several times, but he couldn't form a single word of defense.

"Dante, I know perfectly well how important Vivienne is to you. Don't worry, I will step aside and let you two be together."

After saying that, Quinn turned and walked out of the courtyard without looking back.

Dante stood frozen, an overwhelming sense of defeat and panic filling his chest.

After a long pause, he raised his phone and called his assistant, his voice low.

"Look into how I was rescued after I fell through the ice into Silverpine Lake seven years ago."

"Remember, do not leave out a single detail you can find!"

Vivienne had a scar on her right wrist, and so did Quinn.

Today, when he mentioned that scar, Quinn had gotten so agitated. That, combined with what Mrs. Landis just said...

Even though the truth hadn't been confirmed yet, countless fragments were rapidly piecing themselves together in his mind, and suddenly, he had his doubts.

On the other side, the suffocating terror of drowning still haunted Quinn.

She turned to look at Raymond, who appeared as aloof as ever, her voice filled with genuine gratitude.

"Thank you for saving me back there. By the way, didn't I tell you to stay home? Why did you show up?"

"My father is obsessed with saving face. Since I just made a scene at the pool, the worst he'll do is scold me for lacking manners."

Raymond nodded, offering a brief instruction. "Come out quickly."

When Quinn arrived at the study, exactly as she expected, Mr. Yates's face was thunderous, and he immediately launched into a tirade.

"Do you not understand how important today is?"

"Yasmine is getting engaged tomorrow, and as her older sister, you argue with her and Vivienne in public."

"You even dragged them into the pool! You were intentionally trying to publicly humiliate the Yates family!"

Facing her father's blind accusations, Quinn felt nothing but an icy chill in her heart.

She replied coldly, "Father, the pool area has surveillance cameras. The truth is perfectly clear."

"You didn't even bother looking into what happened before condemning me. You truly haven't changed one bit after all these years."

"Yasmine is getting engaged tomorrow. Couldn't you just let it go? Making such a fool of herself, what will the Ambrose family think of her?"

"She started the fight, and she made a fool of herself. It has nothing to do with me."

Quinn's completely detached and indifferent attitude infuriated Mr. Yates even more.
