Raymond swept her up into his arms, letting out a cold scoff. "I told you to take his car. You brought this on yourself."

With her face pressed against his chest, Quinn could smell the fresh, clean scent of his soap.

She could also hear the strong, rapid thud of his heartbeat.

Her cheeks instantly flushed crimson. "I can still walk. Put me down."

Raymond held her tighter. "If you weren't my employer, do you think I'd care?"

Quinn muttered under her breath, "I'm not giving you a raise for this."

The man's arms were incredibly solid, carrying her effortlessly with long, steady strides.

But when he headed straight for the stairs, she felt a wave of embarrassment wash over her.

"I can take the stairs myself. I'm too heavy."

He shot her a downward glance, already ascending the steps. "You barely have an ounce of meat on your bones. How are you heavy?"

Carrying her felt no different than holding a feather.

His back remained perfectly straight, his steps light, and he had her inside the bedroom in no time.

"Th... Thank you!"

Before Quinn could even finish her sentence, the man had already turned and left the room.

During her shower, the cold water stung the cuts on her soles.

She merely frowned; it was just a minor scrape, nothing she cared to fuss over.

Just as she finished blow-drying her hair, a soft knock came at the bedroom door.

She opened it to find Raymond standing outside in his loungewear, a first-aid kit in hand.

"What are you..."

"Isn't it obvious? I'm applying medicine."

He slipped past her through the half-open door, then turned back with a dark expression. "Come here and sit down."

Quinn walked over, still trying to decline. "Just give me the ointment. I can do it..."

Raymond ignored her, pushing her down onto the edge of the bed. His large hand gripped her foot as he applied disinfectant to her wounds.

Thankfully, he wasn't too rough.

But with her bare foot resting in his palm, a jolt of electricity seemed to shoot up from where his fingers touched her skin, making her instinctively try to pull away.

It was always better to be safe than sorry.

She had schemed and waited patiently for so many years.

She was going to be Mrs. Hayes, and she couldn't let it all fall apart now.

"Yasmine, if Dante finds out I wasn't the one who saved him, I'm ruined."

Knowing she would be dragged down if the secret came to light, Yasmine replied, "Relax. They won't find anything at the hotel."

"But don't forget, there's still a key witness."

Yasmine went silent for a few seconds before answering. "I know. Don't worry, I'll take care of it. Dante will never uncover the truth."

Reassured, Vivienne hung up and finally drifted off to sleep.

Because of her severe flu, Yasmine was rushed to the hospital at dawn for an IV drip, forcing Leon Ambrose to postpone the engagement party.

With her schedule suddenly freed up, Vivienne invited Mrs. Hayes out for afternoon tea.

Mrs. Hayes had always been fond of Vivienne, and she smiled warmly as she sat down. "What made you invite me out today?"

Vivienne offered a sugary sweet smile. "Because I missed you, of course!"
