Quinn had no idea what kind of breakdown Dante was having.
Shouldn't he be counting down the days until the new company went public so he could divorce her and marry his precious first love?
What was the point of coming here to harass her?
Unbidden, the memory flashed in her mind—her falling into the water, and him swimming frantically past her to save Vivienne.
The man was still holding her in a crushing grip, squeezing the air out of her lungs.
Unable to break free, she resorted to her old trick and stomped hard on his foot.
Lost in his emotional turmoil, Dante didn't see it coming and took the full brunt of the hit.
Pain and irritation flared in his chest. "Quinn, are you trying to murder your husband?!"
"Soon you won't be."
It was a shame she wasn't wearing heels today.
She wished it had hurt him more.
"Honey, stop saying things you don't mean out of spite. You love me so much, you could never actually leave me."
Dante clung to his delusional belief that Quinn was deeply in love with him and was only acting out because she cared.
"Really?" Quinn let out a dry, exasperated laugh at his blind arrogance. "Believe whatever helps you sleep at night."
Without giving him another glance, she walked straight to her car, climbed in, and slammed the door.
She started the engine and sped off into the night.
Leaving Dante choking on her exhaust fumes.
He stood there in the shadows, the darkness concealing the turbulent look on his face.

When Quinn arrived home and stepped into the entryway, she immediately heard her son's bright, ringing laughter.
"Raymond!"
"There you go!"
Looking up, she saw Raymond sitting on the living room playmat, entertaining Leo.
A genuine smile graced Quinn's lips. "What are you two playing?"
Stepping closer, she saw the little boy was working on a large animal puzzle. He had just finished putting a lion together.
His tiny face was glowing with absolute pride.
"Wow, you did such a great job!"
Quinn bent down and planted a loud kiss on her son's soft, chubby cheek.
Thrilled by the praise, Leo's big round eyes sparkled even brighter.
"So lazy."
Despite the insult, he walked straight into the kitchen and started reheating her food.
Flattered and slightly panicked, Quinn hurried after him.
"I can do it myself."
"Go sit down," he said flatly. "It's almost done. Don't get your hands dirty."
Quinn watched his broad, handsome back as he moved around the kitchen, struck by how strangely domestic he looked.
Yet, for some inexplicable reason, it warmed her heart.
Minutes later, the food was placed on the table.
"Eat up. I'm taking Leo upstairs."
Lydia had already drawn a bath for the boy, so Raymond taking him up meant it was the perfect time to get him washed.
Quinn ate her dinner while watching the tall man and the tiny boy head up the stairs.
She realized her life was actually pretty great right now.
From here on out, all she needed to focus on was preparing for the 'Luminous Silhouette' competition.
After finishing her meal, Quinn pulled out the vintage silk gown she had won at the auction and studied it intently.
