Chapter 15

The evening breeze swept by. Even though the temperature was over twenty degrees, Lawrence felt as if he were standing in an ice cellar, chilled to the bone.

Maryann left without so much as a word of farewell.

Just like she had done more than a month ago.

Did she really not want to see him that much?

Lawrence’s fingers, hanging at his side, slowly curled into a fist, then he slammed it hard against the doorframe!

The man was startled, staring at Lawrence’s hand, the back of it pierced and bloody, yet there was still a smile on his face. The sight sent a chill down his spine. “Are you insane or something…?”

With a bang, the door slammed shut again.

Lawrence stood where he was, a smile on his face, but his eyes were cold as ice. “Maryann, you really are something else.”.

He wandered aimlessly along the street.

He doubled over, coughing violently, tears streaming from his eyes, his rims flushed red.

A few blonde beauties sauntered over, tossing their voluminous curls and giving him flirtatious glances. “Hey handsome, are you alone? Want to have a drink with us?”

“Get lost.”

Lawrence’s voice was as cold as ice.

He grabbed the glass again and downed it fiercely. By the time he reached his fourth glass, his wrist was seized.

“Larry, stop drinking!”

A familiar voice called out.

Lawrence paused, looking up at the person before him..

Through his blurred vision, he seemed to see Maryann’s figure and murmured, “Mary?…”

However, the evening breeze drifting in through the window brushed his face, gradually sobering

him up.
