**Married by Mistake, Loved by Fate — by L. Winters**
**Chapter 8**
As I entered the dimly lit room, a storm of emotions surged within me. Without uttering a single word, I seized Ethan by the arm and pulled him forcefully into the hallway. The air felt electric, charged with the tension that hung between us like a thick fog.
I was acutely aware that my mother would never want to lay eyes on him again, let alone hear the vile words that had spilled from his mouth earlier.
His expression shifted when he caught sight of me—surprise flickered across his features, quickly followed by a glimmer of joy that made my stomach churn. “Nora—” he began, his voice tinged with an eagerness that I found infuriating.

“But you? You disappeared for five years, leaving us to fend for ourselves, and never once did you check on my mother.” My voice trembled with the weight of betrayal.
“And now what? Now that you’ve realized Summer isn’t the perfect fairy tale you envisioned and you’ve convinced yourself that you’re the innocent victim in all of this, you suddenly remember the family that stood by you when you had nothing?”
“Let me make one thing clear: Summer is not a good person, and neither are you.”
Ethan stood there, one hand pressed against the side of his face, his eyes wide with disbelief. “Nora, I didn’t mean—”
