Dominic understood immediately when he received Autumn’s call and heard her explanation.

Although he had known her only a short time, he did not believe this young woman would crumble so easily after a loss.

“Mommy, you said you would come tonight. You lied to me!” Lilith pouted, her voice breaking.

Isabella said nothing.

Katherine took the phone with a smile. “Lily, Mommy is staying at my place tonight.”

The little girl’s eyes lit up. “Auntie!”

“Be good, okay. Mommy and Auntie will take you out to play tomorrow after school, alright?”

“Okay!”

“Then go to sleep now.”

“But I miss Mommy. I can’t sleep,” the girl said sadly.

She was smart. In her small heart, she understood that her parents had separated as of today, and the realization filled her with panic and sorrow.

Katherine sighed softly and comforted her again and again.

After a long while, Lilith reluctantly hung up.

Isabella stood beside Katherine, already crying uncontrollably.

Katherine’s expression turned cold. “How do you still have the nerve to cry? When you were flirting with your sworn brother, did you ever think this day would come?”
