Chapter 113
After a long silence, Grace finally shook her head, her voice heavy with regret. “I really regret it. When Charlotte was still alive, I didn’t spend enough time with her. I still remember her saying that what she wanted most was to have a meal with us.”
Isaac lowered his voice. “I’m not going to the office today. I’ll cook at home. The three of us will have a proper meal together.”
Grace looked at the photo frame, reached out, and touched it with trembling fingers. “Alright. I’ll cook. Charlotte, today Daddy and Mommy will eat with you.”
Isaac felt a dull ache in his chest and followed Grace into the kitchen without a word.
To their surprise, they did not argue.
Ever since they had reached their current status, neither of them had cooked in a long time. This time, though, they worked in quiet harmony. One prepared the ingredients, the other cooked the dishes.
“Beef and potatoes were Charlotte’s favorite,” Isaac said suddenly as he washed the potatoes.
Grace glanced at him. Memories of her daughter’s adorable face rose one after another, tightening her throat. “I used to tell Charlotte that girls need to watch their figure and shouldn’t eat too much meat. She would nod right in front of me, then sneak bites the very next moment. Once I caught her, she even made a funny face at me.”
Isaac gave a tearful laugh. “When she was little, she loved sitting on my shoulders and said she wanted to ride a horsie. One time, just as I lifted her up, she peed. I cleaned everything and thought it would be fine to let her ride again. There was no pee that time, but the next moment she pooped.”
They looked at each other.
Countless beautiful memories flooded back, and tears blurred their vision once more.
The couple held each other tightly.
Isaac spoke through the pain. “She was so young, yet so strong in the hospital. Those treatments were unbearable even for
adults.”
Grace sobbed. “She said that as long as Daddy and Mommy were with her, she could endure any pain and wouldn’t cry. Charlotte, my Charlotte.”
Grief swallowed their voices, leaving only broken sobs,
They cried for a long time. With no strength left to cook, they supported each other and walked out of the kitchen.
At that moment, they noticed someone sitting on the sofa in the living room.
Isaac froze, then his expression darkened as he shouted coldly, “Who are you? Who let you in? Where are the guards?”
The intruder was Dominic.
Isaac was a wealthy and influential man, and it had not been difficult to find his address.
This was a high–end villa community with access control at the entrance Dominic could not enter through the front gate, but every household had a passcode. He had asked Charlotte and learned it.
When he arrived, the front door stood wide open, so he walked straight in
“My surname is Fleming,” Dominic said calmly. “You can call me Mr. Fleming.”
“What nonsense. Get out right now. If you don’t, I’ll call the police,” Isaac said, his tone icy
Dominic said nothing. He raised his hand and beckoned toward Charlotte, who stood at Isaac’s feet

Charlotte saw her parents and ran toward them, but they did not react. Her lips puckered, tears filling her big eyes.
When she noticed Dominic beckoning, she walked over on her short legs, feeling wronged.
Dominic smiled and lifted her into his arms.
In the next second, Isaac and Grace were stunned. They saw the man smile gently, bend down, and make a hugging motion toward empty air. Then the daughter they had longed for day and night appeared in his arms.
