After dinner, Dominic pushed Lilith back to her room to finish her homework, then went out to the balcony to smoke.
The weather in late June was pleasant. A gentle breeze drifted through the air, cool and comfortable.
“Honey, I miss you so much.” Isabella’s voice sounded behind him.
A moment later, a pair of arms wrapped around him, her soft body pressing against his back.
Caught off guard, Dominic immediately pulled free. He turned to face her and said coldly, “Don’t do this.”
Isabella’s eyes filled with grievance. She did not know when it had begun, but Dominic’s attitude toward her had changed. Where there had once been warmth, there was now only impatience and indifference.
She told herself it was temporary. In the end, she would win.
“I just want to hug you,” Isabella said, pouting. Her voice carried a pitiful tone.
“There are still half a month left,” Dominic replied coolly. “After that, the only relationship between us will be Lily’s father and mother. Nothing more.”
“At least we’re not divorced yet,” Isabella shot back at once. “We’re still husband and wife, and you need to fulfill a husband’s
duties.”
As for saying she did not want a divorce, she had repeated it so many times that she saw no point in saying it again.
Dominic stared at her, momentarily speechless. “Are you sick or something?”
“You’re the one who’s sick!” Isabella snapped. “Treating me like this is emotional abuse in a marriage.”
‘What kind of twisted logic is that?‘ Dominic glared at her, ready to retort, but found he could not quite refute it.
He snorted coldly. “You’re shameless.”
He flicked away the cigarette butt and turned to head back inside.
With Dominic retreating, Isabella’s eyes finally showed a trace of joy. Compared to him, her pride meant nothing.
“Katherine, I’ll have to trouble you with Lily,” Dominic said as he saw Katherine scrolling through short videos. “If you need anything from me, just say the word.”
Katherine frowned. “What are you talking about? Lily and I are family.”
Dominic gave an awkward smile. “Right. I misspoke.”
Katherine shot him an annoyed look, checked the time, and said, “It’s getting late. I should go. Bella, let’s head home.”
The arrangement suited Dominic perfectly, so he made no effort to keep them “Drive sately ”
Isabella dragged her feet, clearly unwilling to leave.
Katherine lost her patience, walked over, and grabbed her arm “Let’s go. What are you hesitating for?”
In the end, Isabella was pulled out of the house despite her reluctance
Dominic finally let out a breath of relief and turned to wash the dishes.
At the entrance of the neighborhood…
“You couldn’t stay a little longer?” Isabella complained. “You really had to start a livestream right now?”
Katherine scoffed. “I swear, you’re hopeless. How can you pursue Dominic like this? Acting clingy only pushes a man away. You

need to pull back to move forward. Retreat in order to advance.”
“Stop, stop, stop,” Isabella interrupted. “If you’re so good at talking, why don’t you find me a brother–in–law instead?”
She suddenly suspected that trusting Katherine had been a mistake.
Katherine curled her lip. “Let me tell you, then. It’s only because I haven’t met a man who meets my standards. At the very least, he should be better than Dominic, right?”
“Then you’re doomed,” Isabella said confidently. “No one is more handsome than my husband.”
To her surprise, Katherine did not argue. She even touched her chin and nodded. “Now that you mention it, that’s true. I wonder which woman will get lucky enough to have him in the future.”
