Leaving the motorcycle behind, Dominic hailed a taxi and returned to Sycamore Garcia Tower. He then called a one stop car shop and spent more than 1,000 dollars replacing several tires.
When the mechanics recognized him again, they could not hold back their laughter.
“Man, who did you piss off? Every time it’s your tires, and now all four at once, haha!” one mechanic said, laughing as he handed Dominic a cigarette.
Dominic waved it away, looking helpless. “Sigh, don’t even mention it. I ran into a lunatic. It’s beyond frustrating.”
The thought of it stirred another irritation. Jessica still had not paid the 200,000 dollar reward. The loss weighed on him, and it
felt enormous.
After the tires were replaced, he went to the hospital to treat his injuries. By the time he returned home, it was already past 11:00
p.m.
He showered in a rush. Completely drained, Dominic collapsed onto the bed and fell asleep almost at once.
The next morning, after washing up, Dominic noticed that the bruises from the previous day had faded considerably. His recovery ability seemed to have improved, or so he thought.
The workday passed uneventfully.
That night, he went to Riverside Residence.
At that hour, Isabella was still at work, and only Katherine was home.
“What happened to your face?” Katherine asked instinctively when she noticed the bruises.
Dominic shook his head. “It’s nothing.”
Katherine frowned, worry flickering in her eyes. “Dominic, if someone is bullying you, call the police. No matter who they are, Skyline City is still governed by law.”
He realized she had misunderstood and smiled. “It’s not what you think. I just vented a little at the boxing gym and stopped in time.”
If Bennie, lying in a hospital bed and groaning in pain, heard that explanation, he would probably curse him out for it.
Katherine finally relaxed but spoke in a serious tone. “You must have been upset about Bella’s situation. Venting is fine. Sigh…. This will pass.”
Dominic nodded and waved at Lilith. “Lily, where are you sleeping tonight?”
The girl ran over at once. When she saw the bruises on his face, concern filled her expression “Daddy’s hurt. I’ll sleep with you tonight!”
“Haha, I knew taking care of you wasn’t for nothing!” Dominic said, laughing as he lifted her into his arms.
Katherine watched the two of them with a smile. “Alright. Just bring her back tomorrow morning, and be careful on the road
Dominic took Lilith with him and stopped by the supermarket on the way home, loading up on groceries They had not cooked at home in a while, and with Lilith staying over, he needed to prepare a proper meal.
“Summer break started a few days ago, and you still haven’t touched your homework. When we get home, you’re doing an hour,
Dominic said casually from the driver’s seat.
Chapter 141
Lilith shivered. She looked at him hesitantly, pouted, and said, “I changed my mind. I want to sleep at Auntie’s house.”
Dominic chuckled. “Changed your mind? Too late.”
Once they got home, Dominic made Lilith sit down to do her homework and headed into the kitchen to cook.
After a while, the doorbell rang.
Lilith’s eyes lit up. “Is Auntie here to pick me up?”
She dashed out of her room and ran to the door.
Dominic also stepped out of the kitchen.
