“Who are you?” Isabella spotted Jessica, and her gaze turned cold at once. “Do you have any right to speak here? And what exactly were you trying to do when you handed my husband that knife?”
She had actually seen Jessica once before, at the entrance of the police station. Back then, Jessica’s heavy makeup and delinquent look were nothing like her current quirky appearance, so Isabella had not recognized her.
Jessica giggled. “Dominic was angry, so of course I helped him let it out. There wasn’t anything else handy. Hitting them a little wouldn’t hurt.”
“Even if they deserved to die, it can’t be my husband who does it,” Isabella snapped. “Do you have any idea how serious the consequences would be if he chopped them to death? You’re not helping him vent. You’re ruining him.”
Jessica looked unconcerned. “Why think so much? As long as it feels good, that’s enough.”
Isabella ignored her and turned to Dominic. “Honey, who is this woman? She has bad intentions. Stay away from her.”
Dominic said nothing. He walked into the house, set the kitchen knife down, and carried the stunned Lilith into the room.
Isabella was about to follow when Jessica stepped in front of her.
“I’m Jessica.”
At the sound of the name, Isabella paused. Her expression darkened immediately. “So it’s you. You’re the one who hired people to beat up my husband and my brother.”
She had heard the name from Oliver before, and now it came back to her at once.
Jessica gave a casual wave. “Hey, real heroes don’t need credit.”
Isabella fell silent for a few seconds, then sneered. “I get it. You really do have bad intentions. You deliberately tried to set my husband up, didn’t you? I don’t care what kind of background you have. If you dare harbor any twisted thoughts about my husband, I won’t let you off.”
Jessica’s eyes widened. “How could I have bad thoughts about Dominic? I just feel sorry for him.”
Isabella’s cheek twitched. She gnashed her teeth. “That makes it worse. Get out. Don’t block my way.”
“I think the one who should leave is you.” Jessica’s smile disappeared, replaced by a serious look. “Isabella, answer me honestly. Have you ever truly trusted Dominic?”
Isabella did not hesitate. “Of course I trust my husband.”
Jessica scoffed, “Trust my ass. Do you really think someone like Dominic would lose control and chop them to death without thinking about the consequences?
“As for breaking a few limbs, don’t tell me the Sinclairs can’t deal with that. Those two barged into the house looking for trouble.
“Who knows what they were really here for? There’s no security camera here. Maybe they were stealing, maybe they planned to hurt someone, or maybe they were even trying to abduct Lilith.
“Under those circumstances, Dominic defending himself and seriously injuring them would be completely justified”
