Chapter 155
Not long after, Dominic finished washing up and came out.
Isabella followed, holding Lilith’s hand.
“Wait a moment. I’ll go make breakfast,” Dominic said, then headed to the kitchen.
Isabella hummed in response. She let the girl play on her phone for a while as she sat on the sofa, lost in thought.
When breakfast was ready, Dominic called everyone over to eat.
The atmosphere was heavy. Even Lilith, usually so chatty, stayed silent.
After the meal, Jessica volunteered, “You all go take care of what you need to do. I’ll clean up the dishes.”
“Do we need you for that?” Isabella asked coldly. She was clearly in a bad mood.
“I’ll do it,” Dominic said as he stood. He quickly cleared the table.
These tasks had long since become routine for him.
Ten minutes later, he washed his hands and walked into the living room.
Jessica sat on the sofa watching TV, cracking peanuts one after another, clearly in good spirits.
Isabella looked completely different. She seemed distracted and absent–minded.
“Let’s go,” Dominic said as he walked to the door.
Isabella took Lilith’s hand and followed him out at a slow pace.
Once inside the car, Isabella finally spoke, her voice very low. “Honey, let’s drop Lily off at my sister’s place first.”
“Alright,” Dominic said. He did not refuse and drove toward Riverside Residence.

When they arrived at Katherine’s place, Dominic remembered what had happened before and stopped them from knocking. He went forward and knocked on the door himself.
Katherine checked the peephole and opened the door.
“Sis, we… have something to deal with. Please help take care of Lily,” Isabella said. Her voice trembled, and her unease was obvious.
Katherine nodded and took Lilith’s hand. A complicated expression crossed her face.
After a long pause, she sighed. “Dominic, does it really have to come to this?”
Dominic shook his head. “Things have already reached this point. There’s no point in asking that anymore.”
Katherine sighed softly. Her mood sank for reasons she could not explain.
Things had once been so good. She could see Lilith whenever she wanted and often went upstairs to freeload brother–in–law, though lacking in ability, had been excellent in character and in many other ways.
More than once, she had thought her sister was the happiest woman alive. Yet the two people who had once been closest now had to face each other in court.
“You should go,” Katherine said at last. “Think everything through before you make a decision. Lily will stay with me today.”
Dominic nodded and left with Isabella.
