Chapter 165
At once, Wendy understood. She pointed out Alexander’s ward.“The one who broke one leg at home and then broke the other after being sent to the hospital.”
As she spoke, she struggled to suppress her laughter. Even with professional training, some moments proved difficult to
contain.
Dominic nodded, said goodbye to Wendy, and located Alexander’s room without trouble. He looked through the window and quietly studied Alexander on the hospital bed.
Alexander lay there staring at the ceiling, dazed and hollow–eyed, as though he questioned life itself.
Dominic watched him for a few seconds. He did not go inside. Instead, he turned and walked away. Next, he needed to find the right moment to make a move against Alexander and his mother.
After wandering outside for some time, Dominic finally returned home.
The moment he stepped inside, he saw Jessica facing away from him, lying on the floor with her hips raised. From his angle, he could not tell what she was doing.
The sight felt almost overwhelming. Her smooth, delicate shoulders flowed into a slender waist, then into rounded, peach–like curves, the whole line resembling a gourd.
Dominic asked, confused, “Hey, what are you doing?”
Jessica jumped in surprise and shivered before realizing Dominic had come back. She broke into a smile. “Look!”
Only then did Dominic notice paper stars scattered across the living room floor.
Jessica scooped up a handful and held them out to him as if offering a treasure. “Lily taught me this. She said that if I fold 365 stars for you, you’ll agree to any condition.”
Dominic studied the colorful but slightly crooked stars. A complicated expression settled into his eyes.
He had never said such a thing. Isabella had.
Back in university, when feelings first took root between them, Isabella claimed that if he folded 365 stars, she would agree to anything he asked.
Dominic, ever straightforward, had done exactly that. Isabella had accepted them with delight, and that day marked the start of their relationship.
Later, he shared the story with Lilith and told her that folding 365 stars would earn her one granted wish.
Now, though, any future with Isabella had vanished completely.
The memories stirred without warning, and Dominic’s eyes grew damp.
“Hey, Dominic, what’s wrong?” Jessica asked when she noticed his distant expression.
“Nothing.” Dominic wiped the corner of his eye and avoided an explanation. “Lily was joking. You actually believed her?”
“I believe it,” Jessica said with absolute seriousness. “Once I finish all 365 stars, you have to agree to one thing. You can’t go back on your word.”
Her stubborn resolve made Dominic smile. Given her mischievous nature, patience did not usually rank among her strengths.
“That depends on what it is,” he said. “As long as it doesn’t violate my principles, I’ll agree.”

Jessica’s eyes sparkled with excitement. “Then it’s a deal!”
“Alright. I’ll go cook.”

Elsewhere, Isabella did not stay at Katherine’s place. She went upstairs alone and returned to the empty house.
In a daze, she entered the master bedroom. Photo frames lined the room, and the warm lighting still seemed to hold Dominic’s
