Chapter 170
Abigail, Daniel, and the rest of Sales Team Gamma exchanged quiet glances at Dominic, concern evident in their eyes.
Dominic shook his head at them, signaling that everything was fine.
He then went to the restroom, headed to the general manager’s office, and knocked.
“Come in.” Jewel’s voice sounded cool by nature.
Dominic pushed the door open and stepped inside.
“Sit.” Jewel gestured toward the sofa.
Once Dominic sat down, she idly toyed with a ballpoint pen, her gaze sharp and appraising
Dominic met her scrutiny without flinching.
After a long pause, Jewel finally asked, “Speak. What is your purpose in getting close to Autumn, and what is your purpose in coming to JewelMed?”
“Autumn and I are friends,” Dominic replied. “As for JewelMed, you can see for yourself. I came here to work.”
“Your wife is Isabella Sinclair. She founded Belladom using both your names. I also have certain competitive ties with her. Under those circumstances, your actions naturally raise suspicion,” Jewel noted.
“I’ve already divorced her.”
“I know.”
Dominic looked at Jewel for a moment, then smiled. “You really did your homework on me.”
Jewel nodded slightly. “Autumn has never helped any man before. You’re the first. It would be strange if I didn’t investigate.”
“I divorced her and left with nothing,” Dominic said. “Now I need a job to make a living. Is that answer satisfactory, Ms. Wright?

“Heh.” Jewel gave a faint smile, then shook her head. “Not enough.”
Dominic frowned. “Then what do you plan to do, Miss Wright? Fire me?”
“It’s simple. You know about David Dubois‘ project, right? It was originally handled by your team. I’ll give you one week to secure it,” Jewel said.
“Miss Wright, I think you should know that he had an accident,” Dominic replied calmly. He had not expected this to be the
issue.
With his special ability, he might have a chance to encounter David again, but he would not exploit someone’s lingering attachment to secure a deal.
He sensed that each time he helped a soul fulfill a wish, the return felt like blessings or merit. If he acted with ulterior motives, that nature would change.
“That’s your job,” Jewel said flatly. “What, do you think it’s too difficult and can’t be done?”
Dominic gave a short, humorless laugh. “I can’t get an order from a dead man. Sorry. Please ask someone else.”
He stood up as he spoke, ready to leave.
“Wait.” A note of displeasure entered Jewel’s voice. “Sit down first.”
Dominic only turned back. He did not sit. “Miss Wright, do you have something else to say?”

“Let me rephrase it. I don’t require you to secure the order. As far as I know, the contract was finalized by his wife. Find out the background and circumstances under which it was signed. That will count as completion of the project. How does that sound?”
She continued, “If you can’t even do that, then feel free to leave. It will also make things easier for me to explain to Autumnn.”
Dominic considered it briefly. “In that case, I can do it.”
“You’ll handle it on your own. I have other arrangements for your team. Go back to work. You don’t need to attend the meeting.” With that, she sent him away.
“Alright.”
After leaving the office and returning to his desk, Abigail and the others leaned in and asked in hushed voices.
“Dominic, Miss Wright didn’t give you a hard time, did she?”
Hearing the concern in Abigail’s voice, Dominic smiled. “No. She gave me an assignment.”
Abigail let out a relieved breath. “That’s good. By the way, what did she ask you to do? Can we help?”
“Do you know how Belladom secured the project from Mr. Dubois?” Dominic asked.
Abigail hesitated. After a moment, she said, “I don’t know the details, but I heard it was handled by someone named Alex. He negotiated it with Mr. Dubois‘ wife.”
“So it really was him.” Dominic smiled faintly for no clear reason, though a chill crept into his eyes.
Alexander always had his own methods when dealing with women.
He packed up his things, then turned to Abigail and the others. “Thanks, Abby. I’ll head out and take care of the task.”
