Chapter 203
The effect was immediate.
It felt like switching on the high beams of a Porsche, the glare flaring straight into the eyes of the other two. Their expressions
hardened at the same moment,
The situation turned into a genuine three–way standoff.
Dominic felt a sudden, inexplicable tension. He paused, gave the plate in his left hand a small shake, then lifted the spatula in his right. “You guys talk. I’ll go cook first.”
Without waiting for a response, he quietly slipped back into the kitchen.
Battlefield? What battlefield?
As long as he was not there, there was no battlefield.
In the living room, none of the three reacted to Dominic’s departure. Silence settled over them, heavy and sharp with tension.
At last, Autumn broke it.
She sneered at Isabella, “I don’t understand how you still have the nerve to cling to Dominic like that.”
Isabella answered without hesitation, “He’s my husband. If I cling to him, that’s part of our marital fun. Do you, an outsider, have any right to comment?”
“Outsider? What do you mean by outsider?”
“You know he has a wife and a child, yet you still got involved. I’m talking about immoral outsiders like you,” Isabella shot back
mercilessly.
Autumn did not get angry. Instead, she smiled.
“What are you laughing at?”
“I’m laughing at you,” Autumn sneered. “Now that the truth is out, what did you do back then? Because of your affair, you hurt Dominic countless times. Do you think all of that can simply be forgotten? He even almost died in the hospital once.”
Jessica’s eyes widened. She had not expected such a history. She had been about to speak, but now she stayed silent.
This was Isabella’s fatal misstep. Trembling with anger, she shouted, “What does that have to do with you? I admit I was wrong, and I’ll change. Back then, I didn’t know he wanted to hurt my husband. If I had known, I would have stopped him.”
Autumn scoffed. “If not for your indulgence, how would the mistress have dared provoke the rightful husband?”
“I told you, he wasn’t a mistress. I never had an immoral relationship with him. I only treated him like a younger brother.” Isabella’s eyes were red, her voice tight with anger and frustration.
Autumn lifted a hand and chuckled lightly. “A younger brother? Choosing him again and again, and you dare say you had no feelings for this so–called younger brother? A brother–sister romance, Shameless.”
Isabella’s weak point was exposed. She flew into a rage. “Shut up. I never had any feelings for him. I only wanted to make up–”
Her voice cut off abruptly.
Autumn’s eyes flickered as she asked casually, “Make up? Make up what?”
As if she had remembered something, Isabella gradually regained her composure. Her voice turned cold. “In any case, mistake. I admit it. I’ve suffered the consequences, and I will change. My husband loves me, and he will forgive me.”
