A long time later, Jessica looked as though she had lost her soul. She pushed her suitcase into the elevator.
When several female bodyguards saw Jessica step out of the elevator downstairs, they walked over and softly called, “Miss.”
Jessica did not respond. She released the suitcase and continued forward in a daze.
She wandered the streets for a long, long time, with no destination in mind.
At last, a Rolls–Royce pulled up beside her. A middle–aged man stepped out of the car and sighed. “Miss Hale, come home.”
Jessica slowly turned her head, glanced at him, and finally stopped walking.
The man’s expression grew complicated.
How could they not know that she had been living at Dominic’s place? Even her parents, far away in the capital, knew about it. After all, Dominic had saved her life, and staying with him was, at the very least, better than letting her roam outside every day without restraint.
As for emotional matters, among families at this level, romantic relationships between men and women were never considered important. Jessica living at Dominic’s place had therefore been tacitly accepted. And now, her own actions had gotten her sent
away.
The man wanted to laugh, but he knew that laughing now would end badly. He suppressed the urge and kept his face expressionless.
Jessica said nothing. Like a puppet, she slowly got into the car.
Tears streamed down her face as she murmured, “Dominic… don’t send me away…”
Autumn opened the door, glanced outside, then walked back in and said, “She’s gone.”
Dominic let out a breath with a bitter smile. “That girl is a bit reckless.”
Autumn nodded. When she recalled the terrifying moment earlier, lingering fear still crept into her chest.
On the other hand, Isabella looked completely carefree. She walked out with a grin and said, “Honey, I’m hungry!”
Dominic nodded. “I’ll cook. Autumn, what do you feel like eating?”
Autumn glanced at Isabella before replying, “Anything’s fine.”
Almost imperceptibly, Isabella frowned. Now was not the time to feel smug. One was gone, but another still remained.
Lilith had woken up as well. She had no idea what had happened earlier. She walked out, looked around, and asked curiously, ” Where’s Jessica?”
Although she bickered with Jessica every day, she liked this “good friend” deep down, as long as Jessica did not call herself her stepmother.
Dominic stood up and said, “Jessica went home.”
“Huh?” Lilith’s face soured slightly. “When is she coming back, then?”
Dominic did not answer. Instead, he smiled, picked her up, and changed the subject. “Daddy’s going to cook. What do you want to eat tonight?”
Lilith thought for a moment, then her expression suddenly turned serious. “Is Jessica never coming to our house again?”

This child was not that easy to fool.
Dominic sighed. “Yeah. She has to go back to her own home. She can’t stay with us every day, right?”
“Okay.” Lilith’s small face looked a little dejected.
Dominic offered no further explanation. He handed her to Isabella and went into the kitchen.
Autumn stayed for dinner, then said she was going to leave.
Dominic asked her to wait. After washing his hands, he said, “I’ll walk you out.”
