Dominic gave a low hum. “You need to pay attention to your own safety. From now on, take a few bodyguards with you whenever you go out.”
The Garcia Group was a towering tree that drew the wind, and Stephen had no shortage of rivals. At that level, if matters truly escalated, no method would be off–limits. On top of that, Autumn possessed striking, top–tier looks.
At that moment, Dominic felt a sudden warmth and softness against the back of his right hand. His heart skipped. It was Autumn’s trembling hand.
She held onto him, her voice shaking as well. “Dominic… will you protect me?”
Dominic froze, then slowly pulled the car over to the side of the road. He turned to look at her. In her eyes, he saw fear, panic, and a quiet anticipation.
An inexplicable impulse stirred in his chest. He turned his hand over, clasped Autumn’s hand, and said with solemn certainty,” As long as I’m here, I won’t let you get hurt.”
Autumn looked at him, her eyes gradually growing hazy.
The temperature inside the car seemed to rise, and an unspoken tension filled the space between them. The distance between them closed inch by inch.
Autumn slowly shut her eyes. Dominic could feel her breath. It was warm, and it carried a faint fragrance.
A sudden horn blared from behind them.
Both of them jolted back to reality. Autumn yanked her hand away as if shocked and lowered her head in embarrassment.
Dominic’s heart raced. He forced an awkward smile.
A car pulled up behind them. The driver rolled down the window and shouted angrily, “Stopping in the middle of the road at night without even turning on your lights?! You scared the hell out of me!”
Then he sped off.
The moment was completely shattered. Dominic started the car and drove Autumn home.
It was already past midnight when Dominic returned.
He opened the door and jumped when he saw someone sitting on the sofa.
“Isabella, what are you doing? It’s the middle of the night, and you’re not sleeping or even turning on the lights,” he said helplessly.
Isabella hurried to reply, “Honey, keep your voice down. Lily’s asleep.”
Dominic changed his shoes, his tone calm. “Then why aren’t you sleeping with her?”
Isabella looked at him. “I can’t sleep.”
“If you can’t sleep, scroll through social media or watch a movie.”
She leaned over and hugged his arm, her voice soft and coquettish. “No I want to stay with you.”
“Let go,” Dominic said coldly.
His attitude was unchanged, yet Isabella did not feel as heartbroken as before. She gazed at him with bright eyes and murmured softly, “Honey, let me sleep with you tonight, all right?”

Dominic did not hesitate and sneered, “If you’re sick, go get treated.”
Without waiting for her response, he shook her off and walked straight into the master bedroom.
Isabella pouted in displeasure. Her mind replayed the scene of Dominic risking his life to save her earlier that day. The thought made the corners of her lips curl upward without her noticing.
‘Honey, you still love me. It’s just that Autumn woman is quite a formidable rival.‘
Dominic was exhausted. He fell asleep the moment he lay down.
Sometime in the night, the door lock turned softly.
A figure slipped inside without a sound. By the moonlight filtering through the window, she gazed at Dominic’s handsome, resolute face, her eyes sparkling.
She licked her lips. “Honey, you’re mine.”
Then she slid under the covers.
Dominic was jolted awake. He flung the blanket aside and snapped in fury, “Isabella, what the hell are you doing?“.
