Dominic did not waste time and climbed straight into the back seat.

As the car moved, he gazed calmly out the window. Scenes from his time with Jessica replayed in his mind, one after another. She could be a little foolish, but no one could call her a bad person.

After a soft sigh, Dominic asked, “How did she get sick?”

Roy sat in the passenger seat. He glanced at Dominic through the rearview mirror before answering. “After Miss Hale returned, she’s been absent–minded these past few days. She collapsed from illness the day before yesterday. Actually, she never said she wanted to see you. I acted on my own.”

After a brief pause, he added, “She’s always been carefree. This is the first time I’ve ever seen her like this.”

Dominic fell silent.

He could not deny the way that little psycho treated him. Her endless stream of clever and bizarre advances often left him with no way to defend himself. Then again, with her aggressive pursuit, that sweet and alluring face, and a figure so exaggerated it put everyone else to shame, what man would not feel flustered?

Even though Dominic could restrain himself and avoid crossing the line, any man facing a young woman like her would find it hard to claim he felt nothing at all.

This consideration had also played a part in his decision to drive Jessica away. Their family backgrounds and their ages made it clear that going far together would never be easy.

The car’s soundproofing was excellent. Neither of them spoke again, and before they realized it, they arrived at a lake.
