Autumn did not look at Dominic. Her gaze stayed fixed on the people passing by, distant and unfocused.
Yet it was obvious that she was not standing there by chance. Waiting like this meant she was waiting for someone.
When she heard Dominic’s voice, her fingers trembled. After a brief pause, she answered flatly, “Nothing.”
Dominic’s expression grew complicated.
The Autumn he remembered had always been spirited, lively, and bright. He had not expected that after some time apart, she would become like this.
A faint sadness lingered in her eyes.
Back then, she had left Isabella speechless more times than he could count. She had also helped him the most when he was preparing for the divorce.
Dominic thought for a moment, then smiled. “Nothing? You look like you have ‘something’s bothering me‘ written all over your face.”
Autumn turned toward him. Her eyes reddened at once as she shouted, “Dominic, you bastard. Are you here to laugh at me?”
Dominic waved his hands. “Hey, how can you accuse me so easily? That said, if something’s bothering you, you can tell me. Maybe it will cheer me up.”
“You…” Autumn could not hold it in any longer. She glared at him, then turned and walked away.
Her steps felt heavy, as if she wanted to grind the floor tiles to dust.
Dominic chuckled. “Could it be that you broke up with your boyfriend?”
Autumn stopped. She did not turn back. Gritting her teeth, she snapped, “You’re the one who broke up with your boyfriend.”
After that, silence stretched on.
Her heart jolted. She turned around without thinking, but Dominic was nowhere to be seen.
‘He left?‘ Autumn froze in place. Bitterness, pain, and sorrow surged through her all at once. She could no longer hold it in. Tears streamed down her face.
She cried for a long time, drawing curious looks from passersby. At last, she wiped her eyes. Her body felt completely drained. She walked forward in a daze, without direction or purpose.
“Hey, I’ve been standing right next to you this whole time. Didn’t you see me?” The voice sounded suddenly beside her car, making her shiver.
Autumn turned her head and saw a familiar smiling face. It was Dominic
‘So he had been playing with my line of sight, staying just behind me and hiding in my blind spot…
Earlier, her emotions had overwhelmed her. When she did not see him where she expected, her mood collapsed, and she never thought to look more carefully.
She stood frozen for a full five seconds
Tears welled up again. She reached out and slapped his chest, crying as she scolded him, “Why did yourcoing out? Go away, bastard.”
Seeing her tear–streaked face, Dominic tell a sudden ache in his chest. He grabbed her hand and said, “Hey, can we talk this through? You were the one who wouldn’t talk to me first”

Autumn’s emotions swung wildly. After crying for a while, she finally calmed down and snorted. “When did I not talk to you? Or are you saying, I didn’t answer your call?”
Dominic sounded aggrieved. “I sent you messages, and you didn’t reply.”
From his tone, Autumn could tell that her silence had bothered him. The realization lifted her mood slightly.
She said lightly, “Why didn’t you send another message when I didn’t reply? Maybe I was just too busy and didn’t see it.”
Dominic froze. Was that logic really sound?
He decided not to dwell on it and changed the subject. “Seriously, something’s bothering you. You look upset. What happened? Tell me.”
Autumn thought, ‘Isn’t my unhappiness all because of you?‘
