Autumn paused and said, “His name is Lucas. He’s my uncle’s son.”

Then she continued walking.

Dominic’s heart skipped a beat, followed by a strange rush of happiness. As he recalled her actions from earlier that day, he could not help laughing. He hurried after her and said, “Slow down. I want to ask you something.”

“Just ask.” Autumn did not stop.

Smiling, he said, “It’s already noon. Walking around won’t help. Let’s get something to eat. Are you hungry?”

Autumn turned her face slightly, her lips curling into a cold smirk.

“I’m starving. I have a great appetite.” The sarcasm in her tone was unmistakable.

Dominic pretended not to notice and reached out to grab her arm. “Come on. My car’s over there.”

Autumn let him pull her along.

Soon, they were seated in his cold car.
