Dominic forced a smile. “Daddy isn’t upset.”

The girl nodded obediently and hummed in reply.

They got into the car.

As Dominic started the engine, Lilith noticed the photos in the storage compartment. She picked one up, her voice filled with surprise. “This young lady looks a lot like Mommy! And this young man… I think I’ve seen him before!”

Dominic’s pupils tightened.

“Lily, where did you see him?” he asked at once.

She tilted her head and thought for a moment. “I think it was in our old house. In Mommy’s drawer…”

Dominic’s eyes flickered.

He knew that drawer well. Everything inside mattered deeply to Isabella. It was usually locked. He had never considered opening it, just as he had never looked through Isabella’s phone.

Without another word, he started the car.

“Daddy, where are we going?” Lilith asked.

“We’re going back to the old house,” Dominic replied.

Her eyes lit up. “Yay! My toys are still there!”

Before long, the car pulled into Riverside Residence.

Dominic went upstairs, unlocked the door with his fingerprint, and headed straight for the master bedroom.

He found the key in the bedside table. He stared at the drawer and hesitated for a few seconds. After a deep breath, he opened it.

The moment the drawer slid open, his heartbeat spiked. He saw it.

The inside held many items, most of them painfully familiar: a jar filled with 1,314 paper stars, a beautiful crystal pendant, and a ladies‘ wristwatch that had stopped long ago. Each one was a gift Dominic had once given Isabella.
