Dominic pointed at the photos scattered across the floor and let out a laugh thick with fury. “Take a look. Go on. Take a good, long look. You really hid it deep as hell.”

After that, he turned and walked toward the inner room.

“Honey…” Isabella’s lips trembled as she reached for him.

Dominic slapped her hand away without hesitation. “Get the hell away from me!”

The bowl in Isabella’s hands slipped from her grip, shattered on the floor, and sent shards skittering across the tiles. She lost her balance and collapsed beside it.

Dominic strode into the room, dropped onto the sofa, and lit a cigarette.

Isabella sat crumpled on the floor, her expression blank and unfocused. .

A long time passed before she finally came back to herself. She gathered the photographs with shaking hands and said, “Honey, who gave you these? Someone is trying to set us up. D–Don’t fall for it.”

Dominic laughed bitterly again. He pointed at her and said, “I don’t care about that right now. I just want an answer. Are these photos real or fake?”

With modern editing tools, even a fabrication could look flawless.

“They’re…” Isabella tried to deny it, but the words stuck when she met his gaze. She bit her lip, then forced the truth out. ” They’re real.”

“You bitch!” Dominic swore. “Damn it, I knew it. Alexander’s only been around a few months, and you couldn’t wait. You gave him your heart, drank cross–arm wine, and became his girlfriend. So that’s how it is. So that’s how it is!”

“No, honey, no.” Isabella rushed her words, her voice breaking. “I didn’t. My heart belongs to you alone.”

“Don’t touch me!” Dominic shook her off, his eyes bloodshot as he roared. “I really don’t understand. If he matters that much to you, why did you come looking for me? Why did you choose me?”

Isabella cried and shook her head again and again. “No, he doesn’t matter that much. There’s only you in my heart. I-”

“Only me?” Dominic cut her off. He pulled out the photograph Isabella had hidden in the drawer and held it up with a sneer. ” Then explain this. If it’s only me, why did you keep this photo hidden?”

The moment Isabella saw the familiar image, her body went rigid.

Dominic flung the photo to the floor. His voice turned cold and contemptuous. “That’s enough. There’s nothing more to say. Get out. Go as far as you can. From today on, I don’t want to see you again, and I don’t want to hear your voice again.”

“No!” Isabella screamed.

Terror filled her eyes, raw and overwhelming. She dropped to her knees, crawled to him, and clutched his leg. “Honey, don’t chase me away!”

“Stop this pathetic act.” Disgust twisted Dominic’s face. “The sight of you makes me sick. I’ll say it one last time. Get the hell out. Right now.”

“I won’t go…” Isabella clung to him, her desperation pushing his rage past its limit.

His palm struck her face with a sharp crack.

Isabella pressed a hand to her cheek, stunned. She stared at Dominic, unable to comprehend what had happened.

This was the first time in their eight years of knowing each other that he had ever hit her.

denial.

Then something seemed to click. Her gaze snapped to the floor. She grabbed the photograph and tore into it with all her strength, ripping it to shreds.
