Dominic could do nothing but bind Isabella’s arm as tightly as he could. The bleeding did not stop, and anxiety made his heart
race.
After a few minutes, her lips turned pale. She said weakly, “Honey, I’m fine. Only if I die would I deserve your forgiveness.”
“Shut your mouth,” Dominic snapped.
Isabella even smiled. “Honey, your mouth is so foul. I like it so much.”
Dominic fell silent at once. This crazy woman left him completely stunned.
By his estimate, the ambulance should arrive soon. He stood, lifted Isabella into his arms, and carried her downstairs.
Outside, the neighbors stared in shock and rushed to ask what had happened. Dominic explained the situation, and someone immediately ran to the community gate to check for the ambulance.
There were still kind people in this world.
Blood continued to drip from Isabella’s arm. Her face grew steadily paler, and her eyelids barely stayed open.
Dominic reached out and tapped her cheek. “Wake up. Don’t sleep.”
Isabella opened her eyes sluggishly and complained, “Honey, you hit me again.”
Dominic clenched his teeth. “If you dare fall asleep, I’ll hit you again.”
“Then hit me,” Isabella murmured. “I’m so sleepy…”
“The ambulance is here!” someone shouted in the distance.
Dominic heard the sirens and ran forward. Halfway there, medics rushed toward him with a stretcher.
Once inside the ambulance, the doctor examined her and said, “The artery is severed. She’s lost a lot of blood, but there’s still
time.”
The nurse immediately started an IV.
Only then did Dominic’s heart finally settle.
At the hospital, Isabella was placed on the operating table. It was a minor surgery that took less than an hour. The operation was successful, and she was soon wheeled out.
Isabella looked alert and called to Dominic, “Honey,”
He did not respond. Together with a hospital attendant, he pushed her into the ward.
Isabella tried to speak again, but Dominic sald coldly, “Don’t talk now. Just sleep.”
“Okay,” Isabella replied reluctantly. She was truly exhausted, and her eyes soon closed.
The next morning, Dominic sat by the bed, scrolling through his phone, when the ward door opened.
It was Katherine.
Seeing Isabella’s arm wrapped in thick bandages, Katherine said helplessly, “Has she gone mad?”
“She’s definitely mad,” Dominic said coldly. Then he asked, “Did you take 1Jly to school?”

“Yes.” Katherine sighed and sat beside him. “You know about Benjamin, right?”
Dominic frowned. “So you know too?”
Katherine nodded. “Benjamin used to play with Bella when they were kids. She always treated him like a little brother. Later, he took a bullet for her and didn’t survive. Because of that, she’s carried guilt all these years. Maybe Alexander’s appearance made her want to make amends, since he saved her life.”
“Make amends?” Dominic said coldly. “And what does that make me?”
At that moment, Isabella woke up. After hearing this, she hurriedly said, “Honey, I really just wanted to make amends. I had no
other intentions.”
Benjamin had loved her for years, yet Isabella had never returned his feelings. No matter how many times she rejected him, even after she deliberately kept her distance, he still took a bullet for her and died.
The guilt weighed heavily on her heart.
Dominic shook his head. “I’ve already sorted out the past. There’s no point in dwelling on it. Isabella, I’ll pack your things and send them back. Once you recover, don’t come again.”
Sorrow flooded Isabella’s face.
Dominic looked at her steadily and spoke in a serious tone. “And don’t use death to threaten me. You’ve already wronged me. If you try to die, Lily will lose her mother. That wouldn’t just be wronging me. It would be wronging her too.”
With that, Dominic stood up and left.
“Honey…” Isabella struggled to sit up.
Dominic’s footsteps never slowed.
The door slammed shut, and the ward fell silent once more.
Katherine let out a soft sigh. She could already hear it in Dominic’s voice. No matter what Isabella did this time, she would not be staying there anymore.
