Sweat poured down Andy’s forehead. After a few seconds of silence, he finally asked, “Mr. Fleming, are you upset with me?”

“I am. I’m very upset with you,” Dominic said. “But aren’t you going to answer the question I just asked?”

Andy’s face paled slightly. He thought for a moment, then suddenly laughed. “Mr. Fleming, all I wanted was to get hired. A monthly salary of about 2,000 dollars is very tempting. Whatever kind of person you need, that’s what I’ll become. Is there a problem with that?”

Dominic nodded. “Right, the salary is pretty high.”

Back then, he had nearly run himself ragged just to find a job that paid 1,000 or 2,000 dollars a month.

Dominic stopped beating around the bush. “All right. I’ve said enough nonsense. Now I have one question.”

“Mr. Fleming, go ahead.”

“Who told you to kill me?” Dominic asked calmly.

Andy’s eyes flew open. “Mr. Fleming, what are you talking about?”

Andy’s cheek twitched. Anger twisted his expression. “Mr. Fleming, isn’t this kind of baseless accusation going too far? If you don’t want to use me, I can resign.”

“Enough!” Dominic waved his hand and cut him off impatiently. “The persona issue I mentioned earlier is one point. You were also the only person who came into contact with me after I became chairman. You knew my whereabouts yesterday as well. Of course, none of that counts as sufficient evidence.”

Dominic smirked. His eyes sharpened as he continued, “But the most critical thing is this. My intuition tells me it was you.”

Andy turned deathly pale. He glanced at Ezra and began gesturing wildly. “You can’t do this. You can’t accuse me of a crime based on suspicion alone. Officer, I’m going to sue him for slander.”

“You can file a lawsuit in court,” Ezra said calmly.

“So you’re refusing to admit it,” Dominic said coldly. “That’s fine. It doesn’t matter whether you admit it or not. If you were acting under someone else’s orders, you should know my background very well. Oh right, Captain Sanchez, please excuse us for a moment.”

Ezra fell silent and looked up at the sky. “I can’t hear anything.”

Dominic went on, “Once I start suspecting you, nothing else matters. The families in Eastmere, the Garcias, and the Hales will show you what the real deal looks like.”

The corner of Ezra’s mouth twitched, but he pretended he had heard nothing.

Dominic let out a cold laugh. “You know my relationship with those women. Even if you say I live off them, that’s fine.

“The point is this. If you don’t admit it now, the police won’t come looking for you. But once I suspect you, many people will come looking for you. Do you believe that? When that happens, will you be able to withstand it?”

The sweat on Andy’s forehead grew heavier, and he cried out, “Mr. Fleming, y–you can’t frame me like this.”

Dominic replied indifferently, “I was almost burned to death, so I’m in a bad mood and need someone to take the fall. If I suspect you, then even if it isn’t you, it’s you.”

He added, “The police need evidence. I don’t. Captain Sanchez, you didn’t hear any of that, right?”

Andy’s entire body trembled as he lowered his head. He had believed he had covered everything perfectly and that no one would ever find evidence. He had not expected Dominic to have no need for evidence at all.

If he waited until those forces came after him, it would be better to act now.

A vicious glint flashed in his eyes. If he wanted to flee, he would have only one chance.

His right hand brushed his belt. A small blade slid into his grip and slashed straight toward Dominic’s neck.
