As Dominic spoke, he reached out and stopped the little maniac.
Seeing this, Jessica could only retreat helplessly. She spoke with clear reluctance. “Alright then.”
Dominic finally let out a sigh of relief. If she really climbed on top of him and sat down, forget him. Even a saint would not be able to hold out.
She added with a laugh, “Just holding you like this and talking is already the happiest thing for me.”
Dominic hummed softly, his eyes fixed on the ceiling.
Jessica’s voice suddenly fell. “Dominic, do you think I’m really useless?”
Dominic turned his head in surprise. “Why would you think that?”
Jessica let out a soft breath. “Do you remember when we first met? Back then, you said I was supervised but never taught manners. I was furious. I completely broke down, because everything you said was right.
“Since I was little, my family arranged everything in my life. Elementary school, middle school, high school. They controlled every moment, but I never felt even a trace of love.
“I don’t know what I am to them. I’m terrified, and most of the time I feel suffocated.
“Dominic, you wouldn’t understand this feeling. It’s like from the moment you’re born until the day you grow old, your life is locked onto a fixed track. You can only walk it step by step according to their wishes.”
As she spoke, Jessica began to sob. Fear crept into her voice.
Dominic listened in silence. He felt unsettled as well. The little princess of the capital circle, someone no one dared to provoke, carried worries of her own.
Jessica grew agitated. “They even arranged my future-”
Her eyes widened, and she abruptly cut herself off.
Dominic asked, “Arranged what?”
Jessica shook her head, her tone subdued. “Nothing. After I graduated from high school, I couldn’t take it anymore. They wanted me to go to Capital University, but I refused.
“That was the first time I resisted my family. They were furious. Luckily, my uncle helped me. His office is in Skyline City, so I came here as well. Coming here was probably the best decision I’ve ever made.”
Dominic smiled. “How so?”
“Because you’re in Skyline City,” Jessica said, looking at him with a smile.
“You don’t actually need to think about it so deeply,” Dominic said. “When you’re young, you think your parents are too strict. When you become a parent, you think your kids don’t listen. Everyone stands at a different angle, so their view of things will never be the same. Since your parents allowed you to come to Skyline City, I don’t think they’re that heartless.”
Jessica shook her head and offered no explanation.
She sighed inwardly. They were only trying to appease her, giving her temporary freedom so she would accept their arrangements without resistance later.
Dominic smiled and continued, “No matter what happens, I’ll always support you. Just like you said earlier. If you run into trouble, you can come to me.”
“Okay,” Jessica said brightly.

That was how she always was. Her emotions came quickly and faded just as fast.
Moments ago, she had been on the verge of tears. Now she smiled as if nothing had happened.
After speaking, she hugged Dominic tighter, taking the chance to rest her cheek against his chest.
This time, he did not refuse. He reached out and wrapped an arm around her shoulders, holding her gently.
The 19–year–old Jessica was flawless in every way. Her soft, full figure carried a light, delicate fragrance that made it easy to lose oneself in her presence.
