Chapter 350
Seeing Jewel stare at him with wide eyes, Dominic felt a flicker of irritation. He hardened his resolve and began to change.
Almost at once, Jewel cried out in surprise. Her long eyelashes trembled, and she did not dare look any longer. In the end, she still turned away.
Dominic sneered inwardly, ‘Old woman, you really want to play this game with me? If you keep looking, who comes out at a loss is still an open question.‘
After pulling on the hospital gown, he said calmly, “All done.”
Jewel did not move. Her cheeks burned. Some of the thoughts that had crossed her mind moments earlier embarrassed her too much to face him. Even without a mirror, she knew her face must be bright red, so she could not bring herself to turn around.
She buried her head in the pillow and said in a muffled voice, “Whether you’re done or not has nothing to do with me!”
Dominic froze, then shot back, “Hey, Jewel. You can eat whatever you want, but you can’t say whatever you want. I said I’m done changing, not whether I’m done or not. What are you thinking?”
Hearing that, Jewel could not help snorting with laughter.
Dominic snapped, “What the hell are you laughing at?”
He lay back on the bed and checked his phone, only to see a message from Autumn.
Autumn: [Did you know, Dominic? The arsonist has already been caught. It was actually your chauffeur, Andy!]
She had no idea that Dominic had personally tricked Andy into confessing. Still, the message made it clear that she had been closely following the case.
Andy was still under interrogation. Before trial, the police needed to uncover a complete chain of evidence.
This step was critical in turning him from a criminal suspect into a convicted criminal. For that reason, no official police bulletin had been released yet.
Dominic: [I know. I just heard from your aunt that you came looking for me?]
Autumn responded almost instantly.
Autumn: [Yeah. I came by this morning and found you weren’t there. Did something come up? Is there anything I can help with?
]
Dominic: [It’s already been taken care of. If anything difficult comes up, I’ll let you know.]
Autumn replied with a smiley face.
Looking at it, Dominic felt a quiet warmth settle in his chest.
When he was with her, there were no intense emotional swings. Still, her presence always put him at ease.
After chatting a bit longer, he finally put his phone away.
Jewel’s face had returned to normal. Seeing that he was free, she asked, “Did you have lunch?”
Dominic checked the time and realized it was already past 1:00 p.m. He said, “I’m not hungry.”
“Oh,” Jewel answered softly.
The ward fell silent. They could even hear each other breathing.
Jewel searched for a topic and said, “Your ex–wife seems pretty reluctant to let you go. You don’t plan to give her another

chance? She’s so beautiful. So many men would dream about her.”
At the mention of Isabella, Dominic frowned instinctively. “Why bring her up out of nowhere? I’m already divorced. There’s no chance we’ll get back together in this lifetime. Other men dreaming about her has nothing to do with me.”
Jewel pursed her lips. “I just think it’s a pity. You told her to get lost this morning, and less than an hour later she came running back to find you. An ordinary woman couldn’t pull that off.”
That kind of behavior bordered on shameless pursuit.
Dominic felt helpless as well. “I don’t know what she’s thinking. I’ve made myself clear so many times, but she refuses to listen. Is there any way to make her completely give up?”
Jewel thought for a moment, then said suddenly, “There is!”
Dominic’s eyes lit up. “Tell me.”
“Get married tomorrow,” Jewel said with absolute certainty.
Dominic shook his head without hesitation. “No. I have a daughter. If I remarry, it will hurt her too much.”
