Autumn stepped forward and moved to the front, carrying the food in her hands.
Isabella’s expression changed, and she spoke coldly. “I’ve always been devoted to my husband. What do you mean by late affection? And what does this have to do with you? You’re the one who should leave.”
Dominic felt irritated listening to her, but he did not argue. He simply ignored her.
He reached out, took the bag from Autumn, and smiled. “Autumn, what did you bring?”
Autumn returned the smile. “I had the housekeeper make a few dishes. It should be enough for you and my aunt.”
Jewel snorted, her voice thick with sarcasm. “So you still remember me?”
Dominic shot her an annoyed look. “Autumn went out of her way to bring food, and this is what you say? Fine. Don’t eat it if you have the nerve.”
Jewel threw off the blanket and climbed out of bed. “I’m eating it anyway!”
Everyone gathered around the cabinet in the center of the ward, crowding around the food.
It had to be said that the housekeeper from Autumn’s family was skilled. The dishes looked appetizing and smelled just as good. They were not perfect, but they were more than decent.
Dominic did not hesitate. He picked up his cutlery and started eating, then glanced at Katherine. “Katherine, have you eaten yet? Want some?”
Katherine shook her head. She looked at her sister, who stood frozen in place, and let out a quiet sigh.
Isabella remained where she was, holding a large bag of food. She looked dazed, unable to move forward or step back.
Dominic and the others ate and chatted in a warm, relaxed mood.
Isabella stood alone, creating a sharp contrast.
Only one step separated them, yet it felt like two different worlds.
Katherine saw everything, and a strange discomfort settled in her chest. She watched Dominic eat while speaking softly to the two women beside him, and anger rose in her heart without a clear outlet.
She reached out to pull Isabella’s arm. “Enough. He doesn’t need us anymore. Let’s go.”
The tug had no effect.
Tears streamed down Isabella’s face as she stubbornly stayed where she was, her eyes fixed on Dominic.
“My husband is here,” she said. “Where am I supposed to go?”
Katherine stomped her foot in frustration. ‘Isabella, you’re useless. Can’t you have even a shred of dignity?‘
There was nothing she could do. She dropped onto Dominic’s hospital bed and began scrolling through her phone.
“Once you recover and get discharged, I’ll arrange a few bodyguards for you,” Autumn said casually while taking sinall bites of food.
Jessica had mentioned this before, and now Autumn brought it up again.
Dominic considered it briefly. “Alright. Assign a few people to JewelMed. The company needs a security department.”
Autumn froze. “I meant personal bodyguards.”

Dominic paused, then shook his head. “Personal ones aren’t necessary for now. I need time to think about it.”
Anyone who stayed by his side had to be completely trustworthy. Autumn meant no harm, but her parents were a different matter. They would obviously arrange the Garcia bodyguards.
Autumn nodded with a serious expression. “Fine. If you run into trouble, make sure you tell me.”
At that moment, Isabella cut in, “If my husband has trouble, I can handle it. There’s no need for you to put on a show here.”
Autumn turned with a sneer. “Oh? You’re still here?”
“You’re the one who should leave,” Isabella shot back. “Why should I go?”
“You really surprise me, Isabella,” Autumn said. “I have to admit, your thick skin is impressive.”
She raised a thumb in mock admiration.
Then Katherine’s calm voice broke in. “That goes both ways. Some people claim to have a boyfriend one moment, then turn around and fawn over someone else the next. Two–timing like that. Aren’t they afraid the boats will capsize?”
Autumn’s face darkened.
Jewel’s expression also changed. She stopped eating and quietly listened. After all, this was the first time Katherine had stepped onto the battlefield.
