Dominic had already talked it over with Andriana, and many people had their eyes on the agency rights for White Cosmos No. 1. Among them were quite a few big–name sharks. There was no room for complacency.
Jewel’s expression turned serious as well. “Then we absolutely can’t make any mistakes.”
The pros and cons of an exclusive agency were obvious.
The upside lay in its monopolistic nature. One could make money with their eyes closed. That same monopoly, however, also
bred resentment.
At present, there were two ways to obtain the agency rights for White Cosmos No. 1.
The first was the simplest: persuade Andriana to reauthorize it. As long as she agreed, all the major players were willing to pay astronomical breach–of–contract penalties, measured in the tens of millions of dollars.
The second method was far darker.
That was to make JewelMed disappear. More bluntly, it meant making Dominic and Jewel disappear.
That was why, after the previous fire, they had suspected the mastermind was connected to White Cosmos No. 1.
Even so, the second method lacked stability. Even if JewelMed vanished, Andriana might still refuse to grant the agency rights for White Cosmos No. 1 to anyone.
Anyone bold enough to attempt such a move must have had a terrifying backer behind the scenes. That person would have full confidence that after dealing with Dominic, they could offer conditions Andriana could not refuse and seize the agency rights
for White Cosmos No. 1.
Dominic waved his hand. “I don’t have much of a problem on my end, but you need to be careful too.”
He now had people around him he trusted. Max’s combat ability was no joke, and his own strength was even more extreme.
Jewel chuckled softly, blinked, and said, “Dominic, are you showing concern for me?”
A sly glint flashed in her eyes.
Dominic glanced at her, and his heartbeat quickened slightly. Jewel was already strikingly beautiful. With that hint of playful charm, she became even more captivating.
Dominic cleared his throat. “Miss Wright, I’m still more used to your cold, aloof look. You should go back to that.”
Jewel’s smile stiffened for a moment. She snorted in dissatisfaction. “Dominic, hasn’t anyone ever told you that you’re a complete and total steel–straight man?”
“Of course!” Dominic did not feel insulted in the slightest. He sounded proud instead. “Steel? I’m a rebar kind of man. The kind that can only be snapped, not bent.”
“Is that so?” Jewel licked the corner of her rosy lips and said meaningfully, “Then I really want to see what a rebar kind of man looks like.”
Dominic’s heart skipped a beat. ‘Damn it. Is this woman flirting with me?‘
He kept his composure and said, “I played Black Jack yesterday.”
Jewel looked at him in confusion. “Why did you suddenly change the subject? Did you win?”
“I was losing at first, but I won in the last round.”
Dominic was talking complete nonsense.

Jewel lifted her cup and spoke with mild boredom. “Sounds like you were pretty lucky. Did you win big?”
“It wasn’t anything huge,” Dominic said with a grin. “It was just that on the last hand, L… came to a self–draw.”
‘Came to a self–draw…‘ Jewel froze for a second, then immediately understood. Her face flushed crimson. She flung the water cup in her hand and cursed, “Dominic, you bastard!”
Dominic reached out, caught the cup with steady precision, set it on the coffee table, and bolted without hesitation.
“Dominic!” Jewel shouted angrily. “If you’ve got the guts, don’t run!”
Before she could finish speaking, Dominic was already gone.
She looked around the empty office, fury burning in her eyes. “Dominic, if I ever talk to you again, I’m a bitch!”
