Chapter 391
Rosie heard the remark, and a flash of resentment crossed her eyes. If an ordinary person had dared speak to her that way, they would have paid for it.
Jessica, however, was different. The Hale family was no weaker than the Jones family, and the relationship between the two households remained unclear. Shaun and Jessica were very likely to end up together, which would make Jessica Rosie’s future sister in law. Rosie could not afford to offend her.
With that in mind, Rosie spoke with a trace of grievance. “Jessica, even if I said something wrong, you did not have to be so harsh, right? We used to be close.”
Jessica took a breath. She no longer wanted to waste words on Rosie and reached out to end the video
call.
Her finger brushed the flip camera button by mistake, and Dominic’s image appeared on the screen.
Jessica was startled and rushed to switch it back. In her panic, several seconds passed before the camera flipped again.
Those few seconds were enough. Rosie saw Dominic’s face clearly. Her eyes lit up. “Jessica, is that guy your bodyguard? He’s quite handsome.”
Jessica had been about to hang up, but the comment sparked her anger. “What nonsense are you talking about? You are my bodyguard. Your whole family are my bodyguards.”
“What?” Rosie’s anger exploded. “Jessica, even if you do not want to be friends with me, you do not have
to insult me like this.”
Jessica sneered, “You think that counts as an insult? Then how could you say something like that so casually just now?”
Rosie could not hold it anymore. A wild, defiant look surfaced on her face. Her voice turned cold. “He is someone you met in Skyline City, right? What is wrong with calling trash like that exactly what it is? Let him stand in front of me. I will curse him a hundred times to his face. Let us see if he dares talk back.*
At that moment, a calm voice sounded. “What are you arguing about?”
The video feed shifted, and the image of Rosie vanished. The young man from earlier filled the screen.
He looked at Jessica and smiled. “Jessica, Rosie is still young. Do not take it to heart. When you come back, I will make her apologize to you.”
Jessica frowned. “There is no need for an apology. I do not even want to see her.”
The young man shook his head, still smiling. “She really does speak without thinking. Is that man still beside you? I will apologize to him on my sister’s behalf.”
“There is no need to-”

“Give me the phone.”
Jessica had been about to continue when Dominic’s calm voice cut in.
She looked up and shot him a warning glance.
He ignored it and held out his hand.
Left with no choice, Jessica handed him the phone.
Dominic held the phone and looked into the camera.
The man on the other side showed a hint of surprise, then smiled. “Bro, you are impressive.”
He had not expected Dominic to dare speak, much less take the call.
Dominic nodded. “My name is Dominic.”
“Dominic Fleming. You used White Cosmos No. 1 to acquire 70% of JewelMed and became its chairman. My information should be correct.” The young man’s eyes flickered as he let out a light chuckle. “Right. Let me introduce myself. My name is Shaun Jones. Jessica and I are family friends.”
The moment those words landed, Dominic’s expression darkened.
Shaun had investigated his background. That much was obvious. Even more obvious was the message behind his words. He wanted it known that his family stood on equal footing with the Hales.
It was a warning, and the meaning was clear: Jessica.
