Jessica looked a little stunned. “A dead person?”
Dominic sighed softly, then sat beside her at the edge of the bed and briefly told her about Isabella and
Benjamin.
After listening, Jessica said in disbelief, “So you got cheated on by a dead childhood sweetheart’s… eyes?
“It wasn’t really cheating, it’s just…” Dominic wanted to explain, but when he saw Jessica struggling to hold back her laughter, he instantly lost the will to continue.
He said weakly, “Alright. I got cheated on by a pair of eyes.”
Jessica could not hold it anymore and burst out laughing. “Hahahaha… cheated on by a pair of eyes, hahahaha. Dominic, don’t be mad. I’m not laughing at you. I just thought of something happy. Pfft,
hahahaha…”
Dominic’s face darkened. “What, is your mom going to have another child?”
“Yeah, cough cough, no!” Jessica stopped laughing and shot him an annoyed look. “What are you talking
about?”
Dominic replied gloomily, “Anyway, that’s basically it.”
“No wonder you divorced your ex–wife. Dominic, you really have it rough. Come here. Hug time.”
Jessica knelt on the bed and hugged Dominic tightly.
At first, it felt comforting. Very quickly, though, the pressure made it hard for him to breathe, and his head began to feel light. He struggled free from her embrace and said, “But I think Benjamin might not be
dead!”
Jessica felt a little upset at being pushed away, but the moment she heard that, she perked up. “What makes you say that?”
Dominic thought for a moment. “There’s no concrete evidence. Just a bit of intuition.”
That stack of photos from the capital had been extremely unusual.
Their purpose was to completely shatter the slightly improving relationship between him and Isabella in
an instant,
If Alexander were still alive, Dominic would have suspected him without hesitation.
But Alexander was already dead. So who else would do something like this? Put another way, who would not want to see his relationship with Isabella continue to recover?
Because Dominic himself had experienced coming back from the dead, it felt natural for him to wonder whether Benjamin had never truly died.

The photos had been sent by him, and the fire also had an inseparable connection to him.
After hearing his analysis, Jessica’s expression turned serious. If you suspect it, then there must be a real possibility.”
Dominic continued, “If he didn’t die, then for some reason he most likely had to leave Eastmere State. I suspect it had something to do with the Sinclairs. The Clarks family must have once been on equal footing with the Sinclairs, or at least not much weaker. Then something happened to the Clarks, and their status plummeted.
“In that situation, the Sinclairs definitely would not want Isabella to be with him, and they would refuse to let him stay in contact with her. That gives him the motive to fake his death and leave.”
Jessica could not help asking, “How are you so sure the Sinclairs would not agree?”
Dominic smiled faintly, a cold glint flashing in his eyes. “Because I went through it myself. Some people did not want me and Isabella to be together, and their methods were pretty extreme.”
“What?” Jessica’s face turned cold. “The Sinclairs used underhanded methods on you? They’re asking for death. Did your ex–wife just let them bully you?”
Hearing that, Dominic sighed and told her what had happened back then.
Isabella had not stood by and done nothing.
At the time, Yvonne had used certain tactics to force him to leave Isabella. After Isabella found out, she grabbed a knife and went straight after Yvonne, determined to fight her to the death.
It was said that Yvonne lost a great deal of blood that day. If not for James stopping it, she would not have survived.
Only after that incident did the Sinclairs acknowledge Dominic’s status as their son–in–law.
Jessica said in surprise, “Your ex–wife’s that fierce?”
Dominic nodded.
That was something he found impossible to forget. Isabella had given so much for him, so his willingness to stay at home was also a form of repayment. At the same time, it was one of the reasons Dominic, even after dying once, had been unwilling to seek revenge against Isabella.
