Isabella’s eyes flew wide.

Katherine sat on the edge of the bed, cheeks flushed and hair tousled, tugging at her rumpled clothes in

a hurried attempt to smooth them down.

Isabella had burst in without warning, and the sudden intrusion made Katherine jump. “W–What are you doing here?”

“Kathy… you were just…” Isabella swallowed.

Something in Katherine’s voice earlier had felt off, and instinct had led her here. She had not expected to

walk into this.

Panic flickered across Katherine’s face. She waved her hands in frantic denial. “N–Nothing! I wasn’t doing anything!”

Isabella frowned. A faint, familiar scent lingered in the air. She sniffed lightly, and her expression shifted with dawning realization. “Kathy, I know what you’re doing.”

Katherine’s heart pounded.

“What… What do you think you know?” she asked, forcing the words out.

Isabella smiled mischievously, and her tone turned teasing. “Ah, I get it. But Kathy, it’s still daytime. Isn’t that a bit inappropriate?”

Relief washed through Katherine. ‘So that’s it! A misunderstanding…‘

She decided to play along and managed an embarrassed smile. “Alright, stop hovering. Let’s go.”

She pushed herself to her feet, but her legs felt oddly weak. Before she could fully stand, they gave cut, and she dropped back onto the mattress.

Isabella gasped. “Kathy! Have some self–control, okay? It’s fine to be tired, but don’t pass out!”

‘What nonsense!‘

Heat flooded Katherine’s face. “Stop talking nonsense. Help me up first. We’ll go out after.”

“Hehe.” Isabella stepped farther into the room, laughing. “You’re drenched in sweat. Your clothes are soaked. I’ll grab you something clean.”

She turned toward the wardrobe.

Katherine’s eyes widened in alarm. The relief she had felt moments ago vanished. “Don’t!”

Isabella flinched and turned back with a frown. “What’s wrong with you? You’re so jumpy.”

Katherine hesitated for only a second. Her calves trembled, but she forced herself upright, grabbed Isabella’s wrist, and dragged her out of the room.

The door shut behind them.

Inside the wardrobe, buried beneath a pile of clothes, Dominic released a long, careful breath.

Earlier, Katherine had ignored his objections and shoved him into the cramped space.

Less than a minute later, Isabella had stormed in.

If the situation had been open and aboveboard, Dominic would not have cared. Hiding like this was another matter. If Isabella had discovered him, he would have wanted the floor to swallow him whole.

When she approached the wardrobe, every muscle in his body had gone rigid.

Fortunately, she had not opened it.

Dominic pushed the door aside and stepped out, exhaling quietly. He dressed at once, just in case Isabella decided to double back.

He could not leave the room now. Even if he felt no fear, he had to respect Katherine’s wishes. He sat on the edge of the bed instead.

The mattress was soft, and the air carried the faint traces of intimacy.

His gaze drifted to the nightstand. Almost without thinking, he walked over and opened the drawer, then

froze.

A photo album lay inside.

He flipped it open. Most of the photos were unfamiliar to him. Many featured Lilith. A few showed himself. Some had been taken at amusement parks, others in the countryside. Each captured a candid, unguarded moment.

Dominic remembered how Katherine used to take the three of them out for fun. He had never realized she preserved so many of those memories.
