Dominic let out a quiet sigh and turned.
Isabella approached from the nearby gazebo, her figure flawless and poised. A fitted black dress traced the line of her body beneath a fall of long, dark hair.
The pale column of her neck led to curves that pressed against the fabric, and as she walked, her hips swayed with an easy, practiced allure. She truly merited the title of top–tier beauty. Even her gait carried a subtle seduction.
Dominic’s expression did not change.
He lit a cigarette. “What are you doing here?”
Isabella came up to him, displeasure in her eyes. “Honey, where did you go? I’ve been waiting forever.”
Dominic frowned. “Do I have to report my movements to you? Who told you to wait? Don’t you have anything better to do all day?”
“Someone’s handling things at the company. There was a major project recently, but when I learned the partner was Zachary, I turned it down.”
As she spoke, she wrinkled her nose and suddenly leaned closer, sniffing at him.
A flicker of panic crossed Dominic’s mind. He pushed her away at once. “What are you doing? You’re acting like a dog.”
Isabella hesitated. “Honey, the smell on you-”
“Cigarette smoke,” Dominic cut her off coldly. “That’s enough. I’m going to pick up Lily.”
He did not wait for a reply. He got into the car.
Isabella slipped into the passenger seat before he could lock the doors and fastened her seatbelt with a bright grin. “Honey, I’ll come pick up Lily with you.”
Dominic shot her a glance and started the engine without a word.
On the road, Isabella said, “Hubby, I want to discuss something with you.”
“Go ahead,” Dominic said evenly.
“How about I transfer the company to you? You can be CEO, and I’ll be your little secretary.” She sounded entirely serious.
Dominic fell silent for a beat. “I already have a company.”
She sighed. “What’s wrong with having one more? I’ll transfer the shares to you. Then you can secure the distribution rights for White Cosmos No. 1. Wouldn’t that be far better than your current 70% stake in JewelMed?”
Dominic’s brow lifted. At a red light, he glanced at her. “You’re not joking?”
“Of course not,” Isabella said firmly. “Belladom was ours to begin with. Whether it’s in my hands or yours, it’s the same. Jewel is an outsider. You can’t trust her too much.”
If Jewel knew Isabella was trying to undermine her, she would be livid.
A faint, surprised smile touched Dominic’s mouth, but he still shook his head.
The last time Jewel had visited him at the police station, her words had moved him deeply.
That was simply who he was. If someone treated him poorly, he returned it in kind. If someone treated him well, he repaid it twofold.

Jewel had even been willing to abandon the dream she had pursued for years just to save him. Dominic would not betray that loyalty.
Besides, he wanted no further entanglement with Isabella.
Upon seeing his refusal, Isabella’s face darkened, yet she persisted. “Honey, it’s fine if you don’t agree. But at JewelMed, you really do need to be careful. People out there are bad. You never truly know someone. For example, Lydia-”
Dominic cut in with a mocking edge, “Like Alexander?”
The sudden jab struck home. Isabella froze, then drew a steady breath. “Yes, I made a mistake before. I misjudged people. That’s exactly why I don’t want you repeating my mistakes. Including that Jewel. You need to be careful about everything.”
