Chapter 453
Dominic let out a soft sigh. He knew Katherine’s situation could not be rushed. Isabella was one factor, and Lilith also needed a clear explanation. This was not a simple matter.
As for his father–in–law, that would be easier. Nothing had changed, and he would certainly
agree.
After weighing it all, Dominic decided to set Katherine’s matter aside for now. The urgent issue was Lydia.
He sat in his office chair, picked up his phone, and called Ezra.
“Ezra, are you busy?”
“Hold on.” Ezra sounded as if he were walking. About a minute later, he said, “Dominic, go ahead.”
Dominic got straight to the point. “What happened to Lydia?”
At that, Ezra lowered his voice. “The official report says suicide, but there are many suspicious details at the scene. Lydia has a blunt–force mark on the back of her head, and her mother said she was still on a call with her last night.
“In short, this case is most likely murder. We’ve quietly set up a task force to investigate. Once we uncover the truth, we’ll release a new report.”
Dominic nodded in understanding.
Since his arrest, public attention had been intense. If Lydia’s death were ruled a suicide, it would ease the situation, and the controversy would gradually fade.
But Dominic was not concerned with who had killed Lydia. He asked only, “Where is her body?
Ezra spoke plainly. “Her family took it home. They plan to keep it in their hometown for a day before cremation.”
“Send me the address,” Dominic said.
“Sure. I’ll send it to you on WhatsApp later.”
“Alright. That’s all.”
As Dominic moved to end the call, Ezra hesitated. “Dominic, um…”
Dominic chuckled. “Just say it. Don’t beat around the bush.”
“Watch your mouth,” Ezra grumbled.
Then he continued, “About Lydia’s case. If you come across any clues, let me know

immediately.”
Dominic smiled. “Got it.”
Ezra was not like the others. He pursued justice, but he was not inflexible. He understood balance and upheld the law without losing his humanity.
This time, the higher–ups were eager to close Lydia’s case as a suicide unless new evidence surfaced. Even so, Ezra still hoped Dominic might provide useful information.
After hanging up, Dominic soon received the address.
A sharp glint flashed in his eyes. He hoped Lydia’s obsession ran deep.
Last time, he had already planted a seed in her mind. If Zachary had arranged for someone to pursue her, Lydia would assume Dominic was eliminating all threats. If she still cared about her family, she would not rest in peace.
Without hesitation, Dominic left the office. He sent Katherine a message asking her to pick up Lilith that evening, then got into his old car and drove toward Lydia’s hometown.
More than an hour later, Dominic arrived in a small township.
Outside a three–story building, a canopy had been erected, and mourning music drifted through the air.
As Dominic stepped out of the car, a faint smile touched his lips.
Crying rose and fell beneath the canopy.
A tall figure stood outside in the sun, looking bored.
Dominic walked over and let out a quiet laugh. “Taking it easy, are you?”
At the familiar voice, the tall figure turned. Their eyes met, and she froze.
