Chapter 454
Lydia looked around in disbelief.
Dominic strolled over at an unhurried pace, a faint chuckle escaping him. “Stop staring. I’m talking to you.”
She stared at him in shock. “You… can see me?”
She already understood what she had become. She had not wanted to remain in the house and listen to the mourners wail, so she had stepped outside for some quiet.
She never expected Dominic to approach her. She certainly never expected him to speak to her.
Dominic’s tone turned flat. “Why does every one of you always start with that line?”
Still dressed in her red nightgown, Lydia asked blankly, “Dom, who… exactly are you?”
“You should call me Mr. Fleming now,” he replied casually.
She froze. After a long moment, she forced a bitter smile. “I actually tried to scheme against you. I must have been asking for trouble.”
Dominic waved a dismissive hand, walked past her, and entered the mourning hall.
The hall was crowded, mostly with Lydia’s relatives.
The moment he stepped inside, the room fell silent.
The recent events had caused a major stir. To Lydia’s family, he was no stranger. Now, with his expression cold, they waited to see why he had suddenly appeared.
Dominic ignored their stares. He picked up a candle, lit it, and placed it before Lydia’s photograph.
He did not bow his head. The dead deserved respect, but Lydia had not earned it.
After setting down the candle, Dominic glanced at her family and said lightly, “My condolences.”
Her mother hesitated, then ventured, “Since you’re here, would you stay for a meal later?”
Dominic shook his head. “No need. I’ll come by tomorrow morning to see her off one last time.

With that, he left the hall and gestured for Lydia to follow.
As she watched him offer condolences on her behalf, a strange feeling stirred within her. Some of the resentment she had harbored toward him seemed to fade with the flame of the
candle.
She followed him to the car and said softly, “Thank you.”

The car was quiet.
Dominic glanced at her. “How does it feel to be a ghost?”
She considered the question, then answered hesitantly, “Like… a walking camera?”
Dominic laughed and gave her a thumbs–up. “Exactly.”
Lydia admitted, “I thought I’d become a vengeful spirit, ready to take revenge. But I can’t do anything. I can only move within a certain range of my body.”
Dominic raised an eyebrow and looked her over from head to toe. “With that outfit and those red heels, you really do look like something out of a horror movie.”
She met his gaze. “Does it look good?”
“Actually, not bad,” he said.
