Chapter 460
In less than half an hour, the hearse arrived at the nearby crematorium.
Dominic stepped out, took a cigarette from his pocket, and lit it.
Lydia surveyed the crowd gathered outside and frowned. “You even have to line up for this now?”
Dominic let out a short, humorless laugh. “What does it feel like, watching yourself get cremated?”
Lydia noticed her family already speaking with the crematorium staff. A flicker of desolation crossed her eyes. “Pity. Such a pity.”
She was still young. She was beautiful. She did not want to die.
Dominic exhaled a thin stream of smoke. “Same as always. Be a good person in your next life.”
Her death was closely tied to him. To a large extent, he had steered Zachary toward it.
He felt no guilt, though. He held grudges by nature. Lydia had brought this on herself.
She nodded, then asked softly, “Döm, do you think I’ll have a next life? Can I still be reincarnated?”
He considered the question for a few seconds. “You can.”
Her eyes brightened at once. “Then when you have another child, I’ll be your daughter in my next life.”
Dominic froze and waved his hands. “Hey, don’t set me up like that.”
“Annoying.” Lydia shot him a glare, though disappointment lingered in her eyes.
They continued talking until her coffin was finally taken inside.
Not long after, she felt the shackles binding her body vanish in an instant.
Her eyes trembled, and her heart swelled with conflicting emotions.
She glanced at Dominic and said suddenly, “Well, there goes your chance to take advantage while it’s warm.”
Dominic nearly choked. “You were cold a long time ago. What do you mean, while it’s warm?”
With that, he got into the car.
Lydia slipped into the seat, blinked, and smiled. “Hey, can’t you let me manifest? Theoretically, it’s not impossible now, right?”
Dominic stared at her. He had not expected her thinking to be so unconventional. Worse, her

logic held up. In theory, it could work.
‘Wait. What am I thinking?‘ He shook his head, ignored her, and drove onto the highway.
Lydia let herself go and flirted with him without restraint, but he gave only minimal
responses.
When she saw that he remained focused on the road, an idea struck her.
Dominic had told her that any part of his body could serve as a medium for a soul to manifest. As such, she leaned down and lowered her head, intending to touch him first so she could manifest and, incidentally, give him a small reward.
But she was still in her spirit state. The attempt left her deeply disappointed.
Dominic glanced down briefly. “The prerequisite for manifesting is my subjective consent. If I don’t allow you to appear, no amount of touching will work.”
As he spoke, a subtle shift of his will sent warmth through her.
For a fleeting second, she felt Dominic’s body as if it were her own.
Then she reverted to her spirit form.
The sensation was astonishing. Lydia stared at him. “You’re really about to become an immortal.”
Dominic only smiled.
His body served as the necessary medium. Even so, without his conscious approval, no soul could manifest through it. Even if he handed someone a strand of hair, one thought from him
could render it useless.
