“Hey, Dominic!” Katherine’s voice was as gentle as ever, warm and soothing.

“What are you doing?” he asked.

“Streaming,” she replied with a smile. “Making money for you.”

“That’s making money for yourself too,” Dominic said. “What’s mine is yours.”

“I don’t want it.” She gave a soft, almost coquettish huff. The words he had hoped to hear did not follow.

He had wanted her to say, “I only want you.” She clearly would not say something like that now. A flicker of disappointment passed through him.

He could not force it, so he asked instead, “Where’s Lily?”

“Bella took her to school this morning. Oh, right…” Katherine paused. “She said you’re going back to Eastmere State with her in a while?”

“I am,” Dominic said openly. “Mainly to visit Grandma. You should come too.”

Katherine’s heart trembled. “You… want me to come?”

“Of course.” He smiled without hesitation. “It would be better if you did.”

She hesitated. “I’d better not go. You’re a family of three…”

His chest tightened.

“Fine. If you don’t go, Isabella will probably act without restraint. If she makes a move on me, there won’t be anyone to help,” he muttered.

Katherine’s heart clenched at that. She knew her younger sister well. Isabella would never miss such an opportunity.

‘If old feelings resurfaced…‘ Katherine bit her lip. “Then I’ll go with you. I’ll take care of Lily.”

Dominic suppressed a smile and kept his expression composed. “That’s more like it.”

Heat rose to Katherine’s face, and she quickly changed the subject. “Are you done with your work? When are you coming back to the office?”

“I still have something to handle,” he said. “I won’t go in yet.”

“Oh.” Disappointment crept into her voice.

She had insisted that their relationship remain private, yet she missed him whenever they were apart.

They talked a little longer before Dominic ended the call.

Lydia let out a low whistle. “Dom, you’re unbelievable. You divorced the younger sister and ended up with the older one.”

He did not deny it. He lit a cigarette and said lightly, “We’re not completely together yet.”

Lydia shook her head. “Sometimes, you’re ridiculously repressed. Other times you’re frighteningly proper. Which one is the real you?”

Dominic spread his hands. “Who knows?”

Lydia sighed. ‘Whatever kind of man he is, it no longer has anything to do with me.‘

The thought filled her with regret. She pushed the feeling aside and asked, “About Zachary, aren’t you taking action tonight?”

“Before that, there’s one more thing to do,” Dominic said.

Just as he had done with Adam last time, he needed to place a strand of hair on Zachary first. Zachary, however, would be more difficult to handle.

As he considered the details, his phone rang.

It was Autumn.

The moment the call connected, she asked, “Dominic, what are you doing?”

“I went out for a bit and just got back to Skyline City,” he said with a smile. “What about you?”
