Isabella noticed Oliver’s miserable condition and asked, “Hey, are you okay?”

Oliver puffed out his chest, ready to respond. The moment he moved, however, he aggravated a hidden injury. Pain made his face twitch.

Still, he forced it down through sheer willpower and said casually, “It’s nothing. Just a few scratches. I’m totally fine.”

“Oh.” Isabella nodded, then happily took Dominic’s hand. “Honey, you’re finally back!”

When Dominic saw the dark bruise around Isabella’s eye, his chest tightened. “Your face… Are you alright?”

“I’m fine!” Isabella waved dismissively. “With my sister’s strength, even Lily hits harder than she does. What could she possibly do to me?”

She then cheerfully led Dominic upstairs.

As he followed, he asked, “Where’s Katherine? How is she?”

Isabella froze. A surge of grievance rose within her, and her voice softened. “Do you care about her that much?”

In truth, she knew that since Dominic had already noticed the bruise, a hint of vulnerability would soften his heart.

But she was too proud. She could not bring herself to use those manipulative, pitiful tactics. Rather than exploit his sympathy, she would rather he not worry about her at all.

What she had not expected was for Dominic to ask about Katherine instead. After already being beaten earlier, Isabella felt even

worse.

Dominic frowned. “It’s not about whether I care. Anyone with common sense can tell you started the fight. I just want to know if she’s alright.”

Isabella pouted, her expression aggrieved. “She’s fine. I only grabbed her hair a couple of times, and she gave me this black eye in return.”

Dominic let out a breath of relief. “She’s your sister. No matter what happened, you shouldn’t have laid hands on her.” Isabella snapped, “She’s trying to steal my husband! That’s completely immoral! Of course I’m angry!”

Dominic’s expression turned cold, and his voice grew stern. “Isabella.”

Just hearing her name spoken that way made her heart tremble.

She hurried to explain, “Honey, if you have something to say, just say it… Don’t call my name like that. I… I get scared.” Dominic spoke with quiet seriousness. “She never tried to take anything from you. Even if this situation exists because of me, it’s because I’m the one pursuing her. Do you understand? I’m single. I have the right to pursue whoever I want. What you did today makes me feel suffocated.”

After speaking, he turned and walked straight into the guest room.

With Isabella still there, seeing Katherine now would only make things more complicated.

His words dealt a heavy blow to Isabella. She stood there for a long moment, unable to recover.

After a short pause, she followed him into the guest room.

“Honey… could you… not pursue her?” Isabella asked softly, almost pleading.
