Chapter 99
Isabella’s face twisted in embarrassment, almost too ashamed to meet his eyes. Only then did she realize how foolish she had been.
She let out a soft sigh. “Honey, I know I was wrong! I swear, it’ll never happen again. As long as you agree to withdraw the lawsuit, I’ll do anything you want. Even if you want me to find someone to deal with Alex, I’ll agree, okay?”
Find someone to deal with him? How could she say that so casually? His fate wasn’t something to be handled that lightly.
A cold gleam flashed in Dominic’s eyes. “No need. His end is already decided. Don’t make it any messier.”
Isabella froze. “Honey, what do you mean? What are you planning to do?”
Dominic glanced at her, sneering, “What, are you worried I’ll hurt your dear little brother?”
“No, no!” Isabella waved her hands frantically. “That’s not what I meant. I’m just… worried about you.”
“Please. When I actually needed your concern, you were too busy spending the day with him. You even peeled an apple for him, didn’t you?” Dominic’s voice dripped with mockery.
Shame flooded Isabella. The shared wine, the endless decisions between Dominic and Alexander, the hospital incident–each memory hit her like a blow. She belatedly realized, too late, how many lines she had already crossed.
“I… I just thought you were safe. I never imagined you’d get hurt, honey…” Isabella crouched beside him, clutching his hand as she tried to explain.
But her words felt weak now–too little, too late.
Dominic’s face remained cold. “A killer can feel remorse all he wants, but that doesn’t undo the crime. He still has to face the punishment. And you… you’re no different.”
His tone carried something deeper, but Isabella couldn’t grasp his meaning. “Honey, I admit I was wrong. But please, give me a chance to make it right. I’ll change, I promise!”
“You don’t need to change.” Dominic stood and walked toward the door. “The sun’s shining, the road’s open. We’ll go our separate ways. Let the past drift away with the wind.”
“I don’t agree! I don’t want to go separate ways from you!”
He didn’t turn around. “Enough. We’ve talked long enough. It’s tiine to settle things. On Monday, I’ll move out. You’ll be busy with work, and Lily still needs care. She’ll stay with me for now. If you want to see her, I’ll bring her to you.”
Panic filled Isabella’s eyes. She rushed toward him. “You’re moving? Where? Where are you going?”
“Luxe Residence,” Dominic replied after a moment.
There was nothing to hide.
“Luxe Residence? How could you afford that? Wait… I get it!” Isabella’s voice rose sharply.
Her eyes burned with anger. “It’s that woman, isn’t it? She’s after you! Honey, you can’t let her get close. You need to cut ties with her!”
