Sam Harrison couldn't exactly say no when Melanie Royce put him on the spot.
Besides, Daphne Morrell wasn't sneaking off with her ex-boyfriend; she was just hanging out with Melanie. He had nothing to worry about.
"Alright, alright, you two go have your girls' night! I'm going to hit the gym with my buddies."
Waving dismissively, Sam strode away.
Preston Whitmore remained silent.
He had guessed early on that Melanie would find an excuse to get Daphne alone.
Everett Kingsley stood awkwardly to the side, his lips moving as if he wanted to speak, but no words came out.
"When is it my turn to get you all to myself, Angel?"
Shawn Sterling's voice suddenly cut through the tension.
As an investor in the Gavin Lockridge Medical Research Institute, Shawn should have been at Dominic Hale's dinner.
Clearly, he had no interest in attending.
Or perhaps Dominic simply hadn't invited him.
After all, Dominic wasn't exactly friendly with the new investor.
"You must be joking, Mr. Sterling. I only do one-on-one dates with women," Melanie replied with a tight smile, linking her arm through Daphne's.
Shawn's expression darkened for a fraction of a second before his eyes crinkled into a predatory smile.
"Then I'd gladly become a woman just to get you alone."
The brazen comment didn't faze Melanie, but it certainly startled Daphne.
