She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 1236

One thing was painfully obvious: both Preston and Shawn were fiercely pursuing Melanie.

Compared to those two heavyweights, Everett knew he was aggressively ordinary. It made perfect sense why Melanie had never given him the time of day.

As he trudged back to his car, his thoughts drifted back to Daphne.

Melanie didn't want him, and he had accepted that.

But now... neither did Daphne.

Daphne had a new boyfriend.

Even though Everett thought Sam was a total downgrade, the bitter truth was that Daphne loved Sam.

Daphne... loved Sam.

Gripping the hood of his car, Everett felt the world tilt on its axis. A suffocating wave of panic seized his chest.

He couldn't tell if he was physically ill or emotionally shattered.

Was he just worried because Sam was a bad match, or was it because...

He was jealous?

A bomb seemed to go off in Everett's mind.

His eyes widened as the devastating realization finally set in.

Yes.

He was jealous.

His heart hammered against his ribs in a frantic, desperate rhythm.

He pressed a hand over his chest, feeling the violent thud of his own pulse.

Why...

Why had it taken him this long to realize the truth?

The reason Daphne's new relationship tore him apart was simple.

He was insanely jealous.

Because he was actually in love with her.

At the Eclipse Noir Club.

Melanie and Daphne slid into a plush booth, sipping draft beer and catching up.
