"Take this."
Quinn had barely managed to compose herself in the bathroom, only to be hit with this demand the moment she stepped out.
A wave of humiliation washed over her, mirroring the tears she had just fought back.
Her throat felt tight, a bitter smile tugging at the corners of her mouth.
Was he really that terrified she might get pregnant?
An overwhelming sense of suffocation pressed down on her lungs.
Noticing her hesitation, Miles shot her a displeased look.
"What, you don't want to take it?"
His eyes were full of contempt, a faint sneer settling on his features.
It was as if he had already figured out exactly what she was scheming.
As the man at the helm of a multi-billion-dollar empire, he naturally knew how to handle this kind of situation.
He threw down his bargaining chip with the commanding authority of someone at the top. "Take it, and I'll write you a check."
With that, he walked over to the desk and picked up a pen. "I admit, last night wasn't entirely your fault. But don't worry, I won't let you walk away empty-handed."
Quinn pressed her lips tightly together, a freezing sorrow spreading through her veins and making it hard to breathe.
Seeing that she still hadn't reached for the pill on the table, Miles's patience began to wear thin. "How much do you want?"
Quinn violently suppressed the ache rising in her chest, refusing to let her composure slip even a fraction.
"Miles, nothing happened between us last night. You don't have to worry about me carrying your child."
Miles cast a dismissive glance her way, clearly not believing a word she said. "A hundred grand? Half a million? A million?"
