"At this juncture, our partners are watching us like hawks. You've met Mr. and Mrs. Pierce; what they value most is the York Corporation's integrity. Mr. York's marital status and personal character are key metrics for their credit evaluation.
"In other words, if the CEO's marital status suddenly changes right now, their first reaction will be to question the stability and integrity of our entire management team.
"Mr. Pierce is incredibly cautious. He might not terminate the partnership outright, but there is a very high probability he'd suspend the project, initiate a re-evaluation, or even alter the terms.
"The fallout from that isn't something we could recover from overnight."
Hunter added, "Mrs. York, Mr. York is just prioritizing the company's strategic growth. Please try to understand."
Quinn's chest heaved, her eyes swirling with anger as she listened to Hunter's explanation.
This master-and-servant duo were utterly airtight. She couldn't poke a single hole in their logic.
But she also couldn't fathom any other reason why Miles would intentionally delay the divorce. After all, this man had always despised her, looked down on her, and practically loathed her. He had always been eager to sever ties.
The man lifted his gaze, his dark, piercing eyes settling on her. "Satisfied?"
Quinn desperately wanted out of this relationship. She fired back indignantly, "Miles, I don't care if the York Corporation partners with Lyonne Global or not. It has absolutely nothing to do with me. I just want a divorce right now!"
Scoffing lightly, it was as if he had anticipated her exact response.
He pulled a document from a drawer, unhurriedly opened it, and pressed his finger against a specific page before sliding it toward her.
"Quinn, Clause Seven of this agreement. Read it carefully. Black and white."
"Should either party cause the other to suffer financial losses due to the dissolution of this marriage, the responsible party must compensate the aggrieved party for all incurred losses. This includes sunken costs, projected profits, and any resulting loss of commercial reputation."
He looked up at her, his voice devoid of a single ripple of emotion, tapping his finger against the text twice.

I would have accepted the jerk husband ending up with the heroine if he’s only powerful, intelligent but he’s so powerless and so stupid....
Can you make Ethan be the endgame? That Miles is a total jerk....
