Remembering his promise to the little girl, he silently prayed for a message confirming Quinn was safe.
Hunter: [Boss, Officer Wilson got a tip from a vagrant. I'm heading there now. I'll update you the second I have eyes on her.]
The moment he saw there was a lead, Miles couldn't stand around any longer.
He turned to Jade. "Jade, I have something urgent to handle. Lynn Reed will be here to look after you."
Without waiting for her response, he spun on his heel and strode away.
Jade didn't try to stop him this time. She merely dug her nails into her palms, her eyes swirling with venom.
Seeing her boss's dark expression, Lynn whispered, "Secretary Winter, Mr. York looked pretty rushed. Do you think they found Quinn?"
"She's been missing for two days. Who knows what terrible tragedy could have happened to her by now?"
Jade smirked. Whether he found her or not, one thing was certain—once they returned, Quinn wouldn't have the dignity left to set foot in Regency Bay ever again.
Miles stepped into the elevator. Just as the doors were sliding shut, he caught a glimpse of a familiar silhouette.
His heart slammed against his ribs. He immediately shoved his hand between the closing doors.
Bursting out into the corridor, he confirmed it was indeed Quinn. The suffocating tension that had gripped him for two days instantly evaporated.
"Quinn!" he shouted.
At the sound of his voice, Quinn's spine stiffened.
She was momentarily surprised but refused to look back. Fueled entirely by disgust, she quickened her pace and kept walking.
She never wanted to see this man again. Meeting him was never a blessing; it was an absolute catastrophe.
Miles knew his eyes weren't playing tricks on him. It was definitely her.
"Quinn, why are you running?"
Seeing her ignore him as if he didn't exist, Miles's expression darkened.
