Suddenly, a sharp cry of pain echoed from the slide. "Ah!"
Quinn's heart dropped, and she sprinted over.
"Luna..."
Miles's expression tightened instantly as he hurried right behind her.
Luna was sitting on the ground, her eyes red, her little shoulders hitching as she sobbed.
Quinn immediately scooped her into her arms, frantically checking for injuries.
"Luna, what happened?"
The little girl's tearful voice was thick with pain and grievance as she pointed to her small arm.
"Quinn, my arm hurts."
"Let me see..."
Sniffling, Luna explained, "Leo was fighting me for the slide. He thought I was going too slow, so he shoved me out of the way, and I hit my arm."
Quinn's face darkened instantly. Her cold, piercing gaze swept up, locking directly onto Jade and her son.
"Why do you always bully Luna?"
Jade stepped in front of Leo, blocking Quinn's intense glare and shielding her son.
"Quinn, children bump into each other all the time when they play. There's no need to make such a scene."
"Leo, tell Ms. Avery you just bumped into Luna by accident, right?"
Leo's eyes darted around shiftily. He had absolutely pushed Luna on purpose because she was in his way.
But he caught his mother's underlying hint and immediately played along.
"Mommy, I bumped into her by accident. She was blocking the way, and I wanted to slide, but I couldn't get past."
