"Quinn, just let nature take its course. Some things are out of our control."
Just like the undeniable bond between Luna and Miles. The more they tried to interfere, the more fate seemed to push them together.
"As long as we make sure he never sees Caleb's face, he'll never figure out that they're his kids."
Quinn felt the exact same way. She would never allow Caleb to have any contact with Miles again.
...
That night, Quinn didn't return to Regency Bay until past nine.
Miles appeared to be waiting for her in the living room. Seeing that she didn't even cast a glance his way, he cleared his throat and called out to her.
But Quinn didn't stop, acting as though she hadn't heard a thing.
Miles followed her. "Quinn, can't you hear me talking to you?"
Quinn's tone was icy. "Unless we're talking about our divorce, we have nothing to discuss."
"What makes you think I don't want to talk about that?"
Hearing this, Quinn stopped dead in her tracks and turned around. "Really?"
Miles walked out toward the garden, and Quinn quickly followed. The thought of finally signing the papers and leaving lifted a massive weight off her shoulders.
Her steps felt lighter, the perpetual worry between her brows fading away.
"So, when are we going to The Registry Office to sign the papers?"
Miles turned to face her, half his body cast in shadow, making his expression impossible to read.
He looked at her as if evaluating the quality of her performance.
"I'll decide when we sign."
Quinn's pretty face tightened with suppressed anger. "What... what do you mean? Didn't you just say we were discussing the divorce?"
"Quinn, it's honestly laughable when you act like this."
