The evening breeze caught the loose strands of hair framing her face. The suffocating tightness in her chest dissolved into a cold, helpless laugh. She was drowning in the sheer absurdity of it all.
Any lingering trace of emotion completely evaporated. She tossed out a flat, indifferent response:
"If you're delusional, go see a therapist."
"I went abroad on personal business. It had absolutely nothing to do with you. If I had a choice, I would wish you never existed in my life."
If he hadn't, she wouldn't have fallen for him the second she laid eyes on him at the York estate.
If she had never met him, their paths would have never crossed. She wouldn't have spent years chasing his shadow, filled with useless hope, only to lose her heart completely.
A heavy, bitter lump formed in Quinn's throat, but she refused to show him even a fraction of her vulnerability.
Miles's lips curled into a cold, mocking sneer. He clearly didn't believe a word she said.
"Fine, Quinn. If you won't admit it, I won't force you. Right now, I want to talk about Luna."
She had drawn a crystal-clear line with every word, but in his eyes, it was nothing more than a stubborn, manipulative act of playing hard to get.
Being so deeply misunderstood and looked down upon made the old wounds in Quinn's battered heart throb with renewed agony and fury. Despite herself, tears pricked her eyes.
Her knuckles turned white. "I already told you, you have no right to act like a father to her. Stay out of her life!"
Miles completely ignored the distinction between being a father and a godfather.
His dark eyes turned bottomless, his jawline sharp and unforgiving. He looked down at her with absolute authority.
"I have no right? But the absent father who has never once shown his face does?"
Quinn met his mocking gaze head-on, refusing to back down from his aggressive stare.
"Of course he does. Her dad is back from abroad. She already has a daddy. Why on earth would she need you as a godfather?"
"If you didn't think it, you wouldn't have said it!"
Miles choked on his words. His chest felt completely tangled up in knots. He had truly never viewed the child that way.
He didn't even know why he had lost his temper and snapped like that the second he heard her words.
In that moment, he didn't realize that he was fiercely jealous of Luna's biological father. He was furious that she already had a daddy.
Maybe it was because he saw her as his own goddaughter, and it felt like someone had just stolen her away from him.
After dropping those words, Quinn turned and disappeared into the night. Her slender silhouette was wrapped in a thick, suffocating aura of sorrow.
Miles yanked at his collar. Why was this woman so violently opposed to him being Luna's godfather?
And she claimed Luna's father was back? Fine. He couldn't wait to see what kind of pathetic loser this biological father was. As if the man could ever compare to him.

Why only one episode uploading for the last 2 days?...
I would have accepted the jerk husband ending up with the heroine if he’s only powerful, intelligent but he’s so powerless and so stupid....
Can you make Ethan be the endgame? That Miles is a total jerk....
