When she stepped out of her room, she saw Jack instructing the staff to decorate Regency Bay, which left her feeling confused.

"Jack, is there... is there a special occasion?"

Jack looked puzzled. "Ma'am, didn't Mr. York tell you? He's officially claiming Luna as his goddaughter this weekend."

"What?"

Quinn's fingers curled into fists as a suffocating wave of anger filled her chest.

Miles was always so domineering and tyrannical.

When had she ever agreed to let him be Luna's godfather?

"Has Miles left for the office?"

"Were you looking for me?"

Right on cue, Miles walked down the stairs, responding to her inquiry as he saw her searching for him.

Her bright eyes blazed with anger. "Miles, Luna's mother never agreed to let you be her godfather. Stop indulging in your own delusions and cancel these arrangements."

The truth was, Miles had tossed and turned in bed all night, completely unable to sleep.

She had only plugged it in for a bit this morning and turned it on, completely missing the missed calls.

"His name is Hunter. He was at the door asking about Luna's father. I was terrified the neighbors might say the wrong thing, so I had to pull him inside. Don't worry though, Caleb was wearing his mask, so he didn't see his face."

Quinn breathed a sigh of relief, terrified that Hunter might uncover their secret at Fairview Apartments.

It seemed she really needed to find a father figure for Luna and Caleb. Once the neighbors saw him, Hunter wouldn't be able to dig up anything suspicious.

"Yara, Miles said you agreed to let him be Luna's godfather?"

Panic laced Yara's voice. "Quinn, that Hunter guy refused to leave! I was worried the neighbors would start gossiping and that he'd start asking about Caleb's parents. I was so afraid he'd figure it out, I had to agree just to get him out of here."

"Quinn, are you mad at me? I... I called you the second I got him out the door."

"Yara, how could I ever be mad at you?" Quinn reassured her.

The only person she blamed was Miles, with his overbearing, forceful arrogance.

Yara sighed heavily. "Quinn, at the end of the day, Luna is his biological daughter. That blood connection is innate, there's nowhere to hide from it. Sometimes, the harder you try to avoid it, the more complicated things get. Maybe it's better to just let nature take its course."
