Hearing this, Quinn's fingers unconsciously curled inward.
His words were utterly absurd, yet...
Seeing her lack of a comeback, Miles assumed he had hit the nail on the head. He smirked.
"Quinn, even you know it's true. Your best friend gave birth to Luna, and that man never came back once to see the mother or the daughter, did he?"
"Luna's spent more time with me, her godfather, than she has with him."
A mix of bitter sorrow and explosive rage clawed at Quinn's chest. Her knuckles turned white as she glared up at him, her eyes brimming with intense hatred.
The only reason Luna and Caleb had grown up without their biological father was entirely his fault!
A violent urge surged through her to scream the exact words she had overheard him say to his cousin outside the study.
Her long, thick eyelashes trembled. The man standing before her remained completely blind to the fury blazing in her eyes.
Her face was deadly pale. Forcing back her tears, she slowly uncurled her fingers.
She couldn't ask. If she uttered a single word about it, she risked making him suspicious of Luna's true identity.
Miles mistook her silence for reluctance. "Forget it. If doing a simple favor for Luna is such a burden to you, I'll just have Hunter drop it off."
That finally snapped Quinn out of it. She couldn't let Hunter anywhere near Fairview Apartments; he might start asking questions again.
She quickly reached out and snatched the kids' smartwatch off the dining table. "Don't bother Hunter. I'll take it."
Without even staying for breakfast, Quinn turned on her heel and marched out of the villa.
...
When she returned to Regency Bay that evening, Macy and Jade were sitting in the living room.
She had no idea what they were chatting about, but sharp peals of laughter echoed through the space.
Spotting her, Jade offered a perfectly manufactured smile. "Quinn, you're back."
But behind her polite facade hid vicious jealousy. Why did this woman change her entire look today?
She usually dressed like a slob in oversized shirts and jeans.
