She Walked Away With His Twins While He Begged the Ground She Walked On novel Chapter 239

The two officers maintained a stern expression and flashed their badges.

"Does Ms. Yara Chase live here?"

Yara walked over. "That's me."

"We received a report that you poisoned a child. We're from the *** Police Department. Please cooperate with us and come down to the station for questioning."

Quinn stepped forward, shielding Yara, completely bewildered.

"Officers, there has to be a mistake. Yara has been with us all day. Why would she poison a child?"

The officer looked at her strictly. "Are you Ms. Quinn Avery? You'll need to come to the station for questioning as well."

Yara protested, "I didn't poison anyone! Who's filing a false report?"

"A Ms. Macy York. She claims you poisoned her nephew, Leo Winter, at their residence, and that he is currently in the hospital receiving emergency treatment."

Ethan's expression instantly froze over, the warm and approachable aura he had radiating just moments ago vanishing entirely.

"Officers, at this moment, you only have an allegation. There is zero substantive proof that Ms. Chase committed any act of poisoning. She has the right to wait for legal representation before answering any questions. Until her lawyer arrives, I suggest you don't harass her."

The officer eyed him closely. "Sir, we are simply following standard procedure. The next steps will depend on what the investigation uncovers."

Quinn remained composed. "Officers, we are willing to cooperate and go to the station, but please give me a moment to speak with my children."

The officers didn't press them and stepped outside to wait.

Tears welled up in Luna's eyes as she asked fearfully, "Mommy... what's happening?"

Caleb squeezed his sister's hand. "Don't worry, Luna. Mommy and Auntie Yara will be fine."

Ethan picked Luna up, comforting her gently. "Don't be scared, Luna. Daddy is here. I won't let anything happen to Mommy."

Caleb clenched his tiny fists. "Mommy, is a bad person trying to hurt you and Auntie Yara?"

"Auntie Yara would never poison anyone. The police must have made a mistake."
